I've been meaning to stop over in New Jersey for some "Jersey Fresh"
tomatoes and peaches, etc. I finally got to this webpage that lets you see all the pick-your-own, roadstands, community farmers markets and orchards with a simple point and click a county on the map for results. Advanced search lets you search multiple counties and specific produce, etc. http://www.state.nj.us/jerseyfresh/s...s/roadside.htm So many in Gloucester county, I can't decide which ones to visit but this heat's GOTTA break before I do. I have it on good authority (a farm hand at my local pick-your-own farm) that New Jersey grows better peaches than Georgia! Do I hear a new civil war brewing?? ![]() Happy harvests, -- Andy Three Stooges in One CotD #2 |

I have driven out to a lot of the places up north and found them closed, regardless of what the webpages say. This is more likely to happen if the farms is primarily poultry, meat, eggs & dairy. And most of the farms do, indeed, sell things they grown on the farm, but they also supplement with things grown/made elsewhere. This happens all the time and often is not indicated by signage. Read the labels of "homemade" goods carefully. I recall one apple butter purchase at a large orchard that listed its state of origin as Alabama, a far cry from NJ...oh, and it had lots of high fructose corn syrup. Definitely my bad for not reading, but I incorrectly assumed that this large orchard would be selling its own apple butter as most do around here. Boron |

The company has jams, jellies, and preserves using the name of this place for their product. One day we went in to see their operation. All product used was in buckets from other places; watched them pouring these buckets of syrup into big vats; when we asked about that, it was irrelevant I guess, because it was made there. Geez! Everytime I see this brand in stores, I snort. Dee Dee |
