Aleppo chile flakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

Bay leaves. You can buy large bags very inexpensively. I also keep
the Turkish powdered bay leaf around for convenience.

Albanian rubbed sage.

Tellicherry peppercorns.

If you're a real salt freak, I love the French grey sea salt, which I
like to eat straight on Summer days like today when I've just mowed a
lawn and crave the salt.

But for sure, Aleppo chile flakes. Also, check out the other chile
peppers.

I got the new Catalog last week with the coupon for a free bottle of
the new 4/S-either smokey or spicy. The smoky sounds interesting.
I'll try to go next week and redeem it. Did you get the coupon?

I love their Adobo seasoning (good in rice, beans, guacamole, and sprinkled
on pork and chicken). The Fox Point seasoning and Pasta Sprinkle are faves
of ours, also.

If you like curry powder, they have some tasty ones. We especially like the
Vindaloo seasoning.

You can use them in any recipe that calls for dried red pepper flakes.
They have an interesting taste. Aleppo chile flakes are common in
Middle Eastern food.

Everything, although I usually keep it on the table and add as desired.
My wife doesn't like hot food, and the rest of us do, so adding at the
table works best for us.

Being from The Ozarks, I think it's funny that the Ozark Seasoning has
ingredients in it that most Ozarkers would hardly recognize. I've
never bought it or used it, but it smelled nice in the store.

Thanks for holding this discussion! I was inspired to find the
Penzey's web site where they have a store locator. I was
pleasantly surprised to find one within easy reach. It is at
1040 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD. A fascinating place, look
for *Penzey's Spices*, and they even have adequate parking.

I think there is one opening in Falls Church, VA as well. It may
already be open.

I got both the 4/S Smoky and the Spicy; both are good but I do like the
Smoky a little bit better. I also got the new Tuscan Sunset; it's good
but not great; don't think I will buy it again. One of my favorite
blends is the Bavarian Seasoning. Carol

My leg, feet and ankles are sore. I drank too much, which led to
dancing that was more suitable for folks half my age. I'm a dancin'

All the stuff on the left side of the store.

The stuff on the right side? Well, that too.

1040 Rockville Pike is unfortunately quite a hike from either
closest Metro station, Rockville or Twinbrook. In fact it's just
about midway between them. There are buses on the Pike but I
don't know much about them.

For what it's worth, I grew up about 3 miles from there.

No, I haven't tried it yet. The Washingtonian magazine seemed to
like it.

Hmmm...I don't remember much. I went there about 4 years ago... I
met BKeith Ryder and another ex rfc'er there, and BKeith ordered for
us. One dish was something with shredded potatoes in it. I think
that is one of their specialties. Another had spinach in it...

And to top it off, BKeith brought one of his fabulous cakes: it was
the ex rfcer's birthday.

I think if you search far enough back on Chowhound or DonRockwell, you
might find out what the specialties are. And I think there was a
thread long ago on eGullet...
