Funny, I do just the opposite. ;-) I lay them out on a plate and
carefully pick at least the spine bones out. The cats happily eat them.
I don't care for that texture.

I've only ever made salad bits out of it, or served it on crackers.

But now I'm thinking a fishy tomato sauce. I've used squished Anchovy in
the past to enrich sauces. It gives it a very unique flavor.

Not a bad idea for a party item.

I make mine with Italian sausage and the minced stems, with a few other
items depending on my mood.

No idea, but I do give canned Salmon a pass.

It tastes like the can it comes out of.

I definitely won't eat the pink type. The red is not as bad. All
canned fish is pretty bad aesthetically, but it is good for you. I
used to have a thing for sardines in mustard sauce. Right now, it
sounds pretty unappealing.

I'm actually pretty much ok with water canned tuna.
My personal preference is Chicken of the Sea brand.

It really is different from the generic/store brand I've tried.

My Mom's have breadcrumbs, the Underwood Deviled Ham, the chopped
stems and some sauteed onion. Baked with a bit of sherry sprinkled on
top. The ham takes on a whole new flavor and it's really
delicious. Loaded with fat, of course.

So? ;-)

The only evil in that recipe (to me) are the bread crumbs...
