Default Just a quick gag

Just saw a sickening commercial on television where they show a sports
woman trying to improve on the "sweet and slightly spicy Prego" jarred
sauce.

I think I just threw up into my mouth a little...gag.

The very first adjective they use to describe a jarred tomato sauce is
"sweet..." ??? Not savory? Not tomato-y? All I can imagine now is how
much sugar (of whatever type they use) must be in there?

Not a good advertising tact in my opinion! My teeth hurt imagining it.

Prego has always been icky sweet. I haven't bought it in many years.

I try my best to buy stuff with no corn syrup these days, and
especially no HFCS. It's getting harder and harder. About the only
solution is to get unprocessed food and make most things myself. At
least then I know what it going into my food.

The sweetness factor has become overwhelming in this country... They
advertise veggies by saying how sweet they are. The savory factor
just doesn't exist anymore.

I can't remember when I last heard the term "savory".
When I say it, people ask what it means.

It's like going to a burger joint and asking for medium-rare. The
counter person usually gets a blank look on their face, smiles weakly,
and asks "well-done?" It's the only thing they know.

I always check the label to make sure there is no sugar of any kind. I like
sweet pancake syrup, not pasta sauce. I prefer intense tomato flavor for
pasta sauce.

No, well-done is all the law allows (and the establishments lawyers too!).
