Apparently some newsreaders went berserk in a recent thread when I added
individuals' names to the name of the thread which, as I explained, I did to
catch the eye of the addressees without their having their having to plow
through the whole thread.

My newsreader had no problems and I didn't know I would be causing some for
others, so I "ceased and desisted" when it was called to my attention. To
those readers, my apologies. And to those who informed me of the problem in
a gracious manner, my thanks.

See? Old dogs CAN learn new tricks.

Oh for Heaven's sales, Felice. Just as long as it only happens on your
birthday!

It didn't bother me none! Some folks ARE high-anxiety about stuff like
that.

All the best,

Andy

Felice,

I have been experimenting with various newsreaders and I can tell you
what I have found: the "start a new thread when the subject changes"
option is a "toggle" that the users themselves can choose to switch on
or off in the "user preferences" settings; i.e. it's up to the
individual to choose whether this happens or not. If they choose to
turn it "on" that's their problem, <shrug>
I wouldn't lose any sleep over it if I were you.

ROFLMAO! I gotta give you this Steve, you do have a 'wicked' sense of
humor...

You still using 40tude, BTW? I seem to remember that's a pretty 'powerful'
newsreader from my Windoze days. Thing is, I go through phases when I get
fed up with TB, and start downloading other newsreaders to experiment
with... I am currently playing with Pan. But to be totally honest, the
'fancier' ones have far too many "bells and whistles" for me - hey, I am
an old dog - learning new tricks is not that easy

Heh. I must be a mind reader . I just downloaded that one today - it
looks a bit, um, "too pretty", but it seems simple enough to use.

so gracious in accepting an apology, steve. would it suffice if she
flogged herself? for how long, and with what kind of scourge?

I've lost two month's sleep over this.

:-)

It appears that I have the option of breaking my newreader preferences
also. I'm happy with what I have, so I'm not changing it.

I do change the subject line, when it gets really off.
