Default Clay tavaa to make millet bread

Looking for clay flat tablet that I can put on my Electric Hot Plate
(hob) and cook millet bread on it.

In western India we cook our millet bread on clay tavaa that is
concave. I have got one imported but I do not have gas stove and only
way I can use it is to put it upside down on hot plate. Plate without
intermediacy of a tavaa will not work, burn what is next to it and not
cook what is away from it.
..
Any one knows any round clay tablet available, 9" diameter, that will
not break getting heated constantly for 20 minutes?

As a long shot, try googling for pizza stones...

I will get one. I believe it will not crack on constant contact with
hob for 20 minutes or so. There are some Clay Pizza Stones but very
pricy. Only worry is diameter. The largest hot plate on my electric
stove is 9 inches in diameter any bigger stone will disperse heat and
getting it sufficiently hot will take longer. In villages they use
tawa with almost 12 inches diameter. Need to cook faster as women have
to do lots of other chores.

Anyway, thank you very much for the suggestion.

I make stove top bread frequently. I make dough, flatten it (usually) to fit the bottom of my cast iron frypan, and cook it really slowly. Sometimes I let it rise, sometimes not. Depending on the dough volume, it ranges from a half inch thick to two Tim Recipes 0 22-12-2005 12:15 PM
