![]() Well, I the general consesus seems to be that I should have frozen the bowl 48 hours, not 24. Next time the bowl will be well frozen because I plan to store it in the freezer. This is turning out to be as much trouble as ice and salt... just less noisy. Maybe I need that self contained contraption after all! ![]() -- Ham and eggs. If you have the room it's much easier and you can make ice cream on short notice. Or at least you don't have to plan quite as far in advance. -- Queenie *** Be the change you wish to see in the world *** |

i keep the bowl in the freezer at all times also.
the time it takes to cool down the mixture is the hard part for me. do you get your ice cream mixture cool in the freezer also? I thought that I had lucked out with a second machine. My mother had the newer, larger Cuisinart ice cream maker and when we cleaned out her condo, no one else was interested in it so I took it. I stuck the freezer bowl into the freezer immediately. About a week later I made a batch of ice cream base, let it cool overnight and the next morning I poured the base into the new freezer bowl, assembled the rest of the parts and flipped the switched. There was a humming sound, but no rotation. I hd to quickly scrape out the custard and put it into my old freezer bowl and use the old machine. The bowl has quite a bit higher capacity that the old machine and the socket for the drive motor is larger so they are not interchangeable. Dang! |

I churn it (in the Cuisnart) the next day early, put it into a plastic covered bowl for serving that second day. It's best not to be in a hurry. Dee Dee |

If I want ice cream faster I will find a recipe that doesn't require cooking, but those just don't seem to taste as good. -- Queenie *** Be the change you wish to see in the world *** |
