It's far more dangerous for her to use hot tap water to cook pasta
than it is NOT to wash her chickens, I think. Hot tap water is
water stored in a tank that is never washed or cleaned out in any
way. Imagine what's in there! As for washing chickens, I think
more germs get sprayed around a kitchen by doing so. The average
person who washes a chicken will often take it, dripping all over, to
the roasting pan across the kitchen. Possible contaminating the
counters and floors. I use Jacques Pepin's philosophy, which is
that any germs that survive a couple hours in a hot oven DESERVE to
live.

You must be a lot messier at washing chickens than I am? Who would take
a dripping chicken across the kitchen to a roasting pan when they could
just put the roasting pan next to the sink?

I wash my chicken in the bathtub and I scrub it in a strong Pinesol
and Bleach water solution, then I scrub it with Comet and a wirebrush.
and let it soak for several hours in that solution. When I take it
out of the tub I carefully dry it with a bath towel before I carry it
to the kitchen.

I said "the average person" (who washes chickens etc.) tends to do
this and I've seen my best friend do it. . *I* do not do this.

I think the average person has more intelligence than your best friend.
I've never seen, heard of or imagined anyone doing such a ludicrous
thing as you suggest they "tend to do."

I'd be willing to bet your friend isn't average. I've
never seen anyone do that. I wash poultry and fish
before cooking them. It removes more than germs.

HA! No one will ever find 'em. Clients don't pay up, they don't have
to worry about finding another attorney :-)
