I don't know if you watched the video clip. If you did you'll see that the bench is sponsored by a Caribbean restaurant at the Fair. I'm thinkin' the Minnesota 5th Judicial District. We'll sue the Minnesota State Fair, the Caribbean restaurant, the company that placed the benches and the advertising company that placed the copy. Cause of action? "Willfully ****ing Off Barb Schaller." I'm sure there's a Minnesota statute that addresses this. I'll research it first thing Monday. Shoot, I haven't even coughed up $150 for an engraved brick on the plaza yet. Hey, KSTP has posted the video that they ran on the 6:00 p.m. news. Have a looksee: http://kstp.com/article/stories/S176666.shtml?cat=10435 The little video is at the right of the text. They're going to run another clip but I've not yet been told when it is scheduled. -- -Barb, Mother Superior, HOSSSPoJ http://www.jamlady.eboard.com - Fair baking |

Rob's comment also was, "Nice nails." The important part of that deal was the pearl necklace * it's a group joke on r.f.p. * part of the June Cleaver affect. "-) It was fun to see but we were a little disappointed that they focused so much on the danger of canning -- that's not exactly the way to encourage a new canner. That conversation was a very small part of the 90 minute interview but it proved the point that I'd made earlier to Rob that the media folks have their own agendas and take from what they have to support that focus. To be fair <grin> they're going to run another (different) piece sometime soon, probably, and I will guess that that will be more about my doing the ribbon slut thang for more than 25 years and my success at it. Didja catch the four jars of pickles, corn relish, and plum jelly? That's a photograph of my entries some 25 years ago. The jelly and relish were bluish, one of the pickles was pinkish, and the other pickle was fifth. I think that's when I got hooked. :-) I found the picture and stuck it on the wall about 15 minutes before they got to the house for the interview. The plum tree still has fruit on it and Rob's been collecting plums from it twice a day for me. "-) I've juice in the freezer for 90 jars of jelly so far. And the other day I made a *very* small batch of plum butter (12 ounces total) that would make you weep. Oy, that stuff is good. My late friend The Widow Geraldine put me onto doing something with the cooked plum flesh. Blahblahblah. I think she KF'd me when I said I had KF'd "dead spread" posts. I did not have a problem with her posting them but I think she did not understand. I'm still hurting from my soul mate's death so I just cannot stand to see or discuss such things yet. I'm sorry I hurt her feelings. I just cannot bring myself to "celebrate" death. And "feasting" for them, to me, shows a certain callousness. She appears to have taken it personally. I simply don't want to see it on my screen. Perhaps she will see this and understand ![]() Very few people can keep up with the traffic on this group. I tend to ignore threads on baking, canning and pickling. While I've done these in the past, they just aren't a serious interest for me right now. That says nothing about the posters, just the subject. I'm not offended by "dead spread" at this point in my life, but at the some other points, I probably couldn't have handled it, either. |

Indeed. I did not killfile HER after all, just that subject thread! Due to the traffic on this list, I tend to use a lot of subject killfiles. Makes it easier to sort the remaining messages. I wasn't offended by them, I just did not want to see them. They tended to go on for miles. -- Peace, Om Remove _ to validate e-mails. Someone posting with the organization of A noiseless patient Spider, posting from motzarella.org, has 526 posts on my newserver, going back some time. Changing your name and using a fake Email address may not be working here. I'm not so sure that you are new. I agree with celebrating the life of the deceased, but that isn't always possible in some stages of grief. Guns are on topic, because that is one way to get meat. She (Om) bitches (probably correctly) because I snip too much. Off topic is how this newsgroup works. |

My hair is now about 1" long on top of my head. Rob calls me Fuzzy. Trouble is, it needs a haircut about every 3 weeks. Corn relish is a pickled relish (vinegar) and I made a couple jars of Bean Pickles for the heck of it. Never made the recipe before, never tasted them. They placed 5th of 15 entries. I suppose I should taste one. They are not the usual Dilly Beans. Tomatoes processed in a boiling water bath now require acidification (lemon juice or citric acid; I prefer citric acid) for safe BWB processing. -- -Barb, Mother Superior, HOSSSPoJ http://www.jamlady.eboard.com - Fair baking |

Maybe for you. I can't do it. But, you see a lot more deaths than I do. I get to hide in the lab most of the time. -- Peace, Om Remove _ to validate e-mails. Ok, mom always did pressure canning for fruits, tomatoes and especially meats so that is what I am used to I guess. What Ph then is recommended? -- Peace, Om Remove _ to validate e-mails.
