Default Food Psychology: Popeye the Sailor Man Cartoons

Popeye (spinach)
Olive Oyle
Sweet Pea
Whimpy (hamburgers)

Popeye (muscles)
Olive Oyle (skinny)
Bluto (fat)
Whimpy (fat)

Did I forget any characters?

The subliminal food psychology is there, except I didn't know what olive oil
was back in my youth AND I knew that I hated spinach but I always enjoyed the
easy-open can the way Popeye did it.

When I was a small child, the only green thing I liked was cooked
(from frozen) spinach. I loved it. I still like it. CANNED spinach
is a whole different thing. It is seriously awful.

Bryan,

I've loved spinach for decades since my youth and I go the frozen spinach
route too, mostly.

Sadly, spinach is a great big gout aggravator!

It ****s with my spinach, tomato, cheese omelette habit!

In this specific study, though, not all purine-rich foods were
associated with an increased risk of gout
There was no increased risk associated with a diet which included:

* peas
* beans
* mushrooms
* cauliflower
* spinach

Just following my doc's lists.

It says spinach "on occasion."

I've been missing my spinach, tomato and cheese omelette!

Thanks,

olive oyl has a brother named castor, and recently there was a woman
in the strip whose name i didn't catch, but she must be olive's sister
because she looks exactly like her except she has tits.

blinky, i have the feeling you're not wasting enough time on the net.
have you ever checked out the *comics curmudgeon*?

http://joshreads.com/

excellent snarky comments on the daily strips. 'mary worth,' 'for
better or for worse' and 'rex morgan, m.d.' are favorite topics. the
commenters there are witty and literate. you can search the archives
on a strip if you have a particular ridiculous favorite.

your pal,
blake
