Default Saturday nite dinner/supper

Having asked about questions about my 'milk pumpkin' that I baked yesterday,
and received an answer to whether it seemed a little too watery for a pie;
the answer which when received then became obvious to me -- why didn't I
think of it.
DRAIN IT!

I drained it during the night, but decided today to make a pumpkin soup out
of it.
Here are three pics

Soup in the pan after vita-mixing an onion, carrot, and some spices.

After simmering abt 30 minutes and having just added milk and cream to it.

The soup dished up.

I served with with a store-bought naan, which needed to be baked at 400ºF
for 2-3 minutes, but instead I put it in the panini grill -- It takes too
much energy to heat an oven for use of 2-3 minutes. It worked fine. Another
use for the panini grill! The naan was really good, but expensive (2 pieces
for $2.49).

So, dinner was pumpkin soup, naan, imported Greek feta cheese (delicious), a
fresh-from-the-farm apple, and a Sicilian wine (from Trader Joe's).

Do you feel that a vitamix is worth the investment?
We have considered getting one on more than one occasion.

Hm. Do you think there are any substitutes for Naan?

Boy, that's a good question. I've had mine for 13 years now. It has been
used perhaps 1/10 of the time that my food processor has, and the price was
more than double. Of course, I've had two or three fps in that time until I
got the KA fp which IMO is the bestest.

But there are times when volume of food necessitates using a vitamix. Too
much slurry would just jump out of the fp. I always think of using the fp
first, and then if I realize that won't do the job, I turn to the vitamix.

The last time I used the vitamix before this was a week ago when I made a
sorrel soup. Come to think of it, I didn't use the fp in between times.

The answer: Je ne sais pas (I don't know.)

This is the closest naan I've found. I believe they were really naan (as
I've made naan), but packaged up before they were quite finished. You know,
like they used to do bread rolls (maybe they still do). These had the burnt
pieces on the side and places, like they'd been put in the naan-pit (for a
better word).

If you mean do I think there are any kinds of bread that would substitute
for naan with my soup or in another meal? Perhaps in this case, a whole
grain pita... ; in another kind of meal where they suggest serving a naan?
perhaps not.

Bye bye,
Dee Dee
