Default Knife set recommendations

I am in the market for a new knife set. I LOVE to cook and bake and
have never had a 'decent' knive (they've always been cheapies). I
have a wonderful hubby who doesn't mind spending $$ on gifts for me,
so I'm giving him gift ideas, one of which is a knife set. I have no
idea what kind of knives are 'good'. I do like seraded as I don't
have to sharpen them, but am not set on them having to be seraded.
What would you recommend? What would your 'dream' knife brand be?
TIA
Sincerely,
Anne
