Irish Lunch

We went to Tornton's Irish Pub & Chop house again.
http://www.thorntonsirishpub.com/2443/21022.html

Stan had a Guinness and I hand a half and half, again.
http://i10.tinypic.com/2e3d8ci.jpg

Stan had the Guinness Irish Stew, It was served with toasted Irish
Soda Bread.
The bread is dense really, really good.
http://i13.tinypic.com/4yajscw.jpg

I had the Bangers and Mash which is traditional Irish pork sausages
with colcannon.
That's their Jameson Irish Whiskey gravy on the plate.
Served with fresh vegetables. Squash, onion, carrots and turnips. All
al dente.
http://i18.tinypic.com/63c3hpj.jpg

Inside of the sausage. I wasn't expecting such a flavorful sausage. I
can't put my finger on the taste but it was very good.
http://i18.tinypic.com/4kxyfd0.jpg

After lunch we hit up three grocery stores. All the groceries are put
away and I'm ready to make another one of these.

Is that a Manhattan?

You have a little glass just like my little shot glasses. The ones in
which I served the Limoncello.

The little glass is one of a set of collectable liqueur glasses that
I've treasured for years.
That reminds me, I need to get busy and make some Limoncello, your's
is delicious.

Thanks ever so much for sharing, Koko! Your posts are so enjoyable to
read, and I really appreciate the photos to go long with the narrative
;) I only wish I could've been there at Chris's cook-in, too (sigh).
Thankfully, your desciptions and photos are the next best thing <G>!

Sky, who still hopes to win that lottery someday

P.S. You take wonderful photos!!!

commented) on the over on a.b.f. ;-)

Yea, she does take very good pics, and she's a good cook too!

A very interesting choice. I never heard of a half and half. I'm undecided.
Great photo!

What's with the square plates? Is it so you don't have to chase your food
around the plate as much? ;) I'll eat that!!!

There it is again! Squaredom. You really have to pay attention to your
drink. Not for the fun drunks in the crowd. Challenging, even!!! :D

Ramsay (Kitchen Nightmares) had a program one week where he went to help a
failing restaurant owner. The first thing Ramsay did was get rid of all the
plates the owner had collected. Most were white and square, stacks of them.
It was like a skit from Monty Python.
I believe when Ramsay came later to check on the place to see how it was
faring, the guy had replaced the white square plates and had quite a
collection going again.

I am obsessed...

OB Food: I am making a tortilla casserole tonight. It originally is
vegetarian with pinto beans, green peppers, tomatoes, onions ,garlic,
chile powder and cumin that are cooked together til sort of stew like.
A chili mixture, if you will. I added ground beef to it tonight. And
some of my chipotle powder. Wow. That adds a whole 'nother
dimension.
After this, I will layer it with tortillas and grated cheddar, in this
case Mammoth cheddar I got at Whole Foods. Then it is baked and
served with lettuce and tomatoes on top.

Good stuff. If I can remember, I will take pictures.

Speaking of good cooks. Here ya go, Christine is tops.
This group is filled with great cooks. We all inspire and challenge
each other, that's what's so wonderful about this group.

That sounds terrific Christine. The chipotle powder_is_kick butt isn't
it. Yes please, remember to take pictures.

The first time I saw chipotle powder was at the Dallas cook-in 1997. We
tried to smell and taste the powder, but you have to smell it very
carefully. It is not something you want to inhale.
