Ahh, google translator... heh. Actually, here's a slightly better
version (my French is pretty appalling, but I think I got the gist -
whoever sent in the recipe seems to have not known how to make accents
in Windows - which changes some of the words' meanings!).

------
Nothing could be more simple!

Ingredients:
Mashed potatoes
creamed corn
good quality ground beef

Brown the meat together with onion, salt and pepper in a cast iron
skillet (nothing else cooks quite like this!) until done. Boil and mash
the potatoes with a bit of salt, pepper and onion. (Don't add too much
onion!)

Prepare a baking dish, add the meat, layer the creamed corn on top of
that, and spread the mashed potatoes on top. Cook for 30-45 minutes in
the oven.

Et voila.

This is the traditional recipe for pté chinois in Quebec.

------

So, basically, a simple cottage pie. A quick Google search shows
that this is a common recipe in Quebec, though. See a Wikipedia entry:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P%C3%A2t%C3%A9_chinois that explains the
origins of the name.

It's interesting, actually... I've never thought about regional or
traditional cooking in Canada! I may have to look into it some more.
Anyone else know anything about it?
