I can't recall if it was/were you that recommended Thomas Hyland, but I
bought a bottle this last week.
Thanks for the pictures. Top notch!

Yep, it was me. Which one did you get? The Cab Sav, or the Shiraz? Both
were great so I got some of each. The SO liked one and I preferred the
other, but can't remember which was which, so I'm going to have to get some
more and rediscover which is which ;-)

The barrel room was quite a temptation :-)

We got the Shiraz. Mainly because I can't decide whether or not Shiraz is a
wine that I like, or just want to write off.

Yes, it's fun to re-discover!

*HOLY CRAP*!!!!! 'Write it off'???!!!

Shiraz/Hermitage was the wine that got me started on my exploration of
the grape.

If you have a Barossa Shiraz, be prepared for a wonderful experience :-)

The beauty of wine. Every vintage is different........ unlike beer and
spirits.

I wrote off Cabernet Sauvignon for years because I lived in California and
drank CA cab -- I was young and stupid.
Now If you say so, I'll take your word, I'll try not to write off Shiraz --
and not be old and stupid ;-))

Thanks,

I was middle aged and stupid when I lived in CA and used to search out
CA wines to try :-)

You should go out into the living room, crack that bottle of Hyland
Shiraz and have a slurp....... RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!! ;-)

Then you'll understand why I spent a fortune at the Penfolds winery in
the Barossa :-)

Let me know if you do.

I'm actually having a Barossa Shiraz right now.

Our conversation got the 'side tasters' of my tongue a tinglin' ;-)

Got home too late -- but I guess I'm not quite thru with Barossa Shiraz. I
purchased Elderton, The Ashmead Family 2004.
It'll have to wait, too.

Hope you enjoyed.

*Another* nice choice!!

That was one of the vineyards that I visited when I was down there.

But I actually went for their Cab Sav.

Yes, you like your Cabs .... <g>

My buying the Elderton must've been subliminal after seeing your pics.
Funny, heh?
I'll be on the lookout for the Cab as well, now.

Yeah, strange that!! I started my red wine journey with the '93 Wynns
Coonwarra 'Hermitage' (now known as Shiraz) and stuck with Shiraz for
quite a long time. Tastes gradually mellow, I s'pose :-)

LOL!!

I've done the same thing. Someones posted a picture of a bottle of wine.
Weeks later I'll see the same one and go "Hey! I know that one" and buy
it!!

And the best part about it is that Elderton wines are one of very few
totally Organic wineries down there.

Let's put it this way -- it's nice to know that a decent wine can be
organic, without being so overpriced because it is organic. I'm always
pleased to purchase organic.

How much are they selling for over there?

(probably cheaper than what I can get it for here!!)

The Hylands I bought from Penfolds I was able to get at a discounted
price of AUD$18. (about USD$16.20)

The Elderton wines I got for about the same IIRC.

I bought Hylands at a wine store $13 USD
The Elderton I bought today at Costco (warehouse shopping for all goods) was
$23 USD

Just spoke to the SO and she tells me that the Elderton we got was
about the same price as yours... $25.
