Default Update on Mom....

Thanks again for all the advice, everyone.

Mom has an appointment at the end of the month, and seems to be doing a little bit
better after some loving nagging from my brothers and I. I'll post again, post doctor
visit.

Y'all are some great people.

I'm so glad to hear that. We'll all be interested in knowing how she's
doing.

You may need to keep on her case about her care, medication and
appointments. I think my mother got to the point where she was fed up with
the life she was living. She had a lot of health issues, overweight,
diabetic, heart problems, kidney and bladder arthritis. She used to love
to entertain and went out a lot for lunches, dinners and visiting. She was
taking diuretics which aggravated kidner and bladder problems and had to gp
to the bathroom every 15 minutes or so. It made it difficult for her to go
out, and impossible to get a night of sleep. If she had to go out somewhere
she would not take the diuretics starting about 12 hours before.

She was admitted to the hospital in late April because she was weak and
had trouble breathing. She had congestion on her heart and lungs. It turned
out that the reason for her fluid build up was that she had stopped taking
the diuretics. She was better when they fed her oxygen and pumped her full
of diuretics, but then she slid downhill very quickly and died four days
later. When I talked with her best friend a week or two later she told me
that Mom was talking about euthanasia. So we figure that she stopped taking
the medication knowing that she would probably die.
