Default Thank you, Shaw's

(Possible repeat. Once in a while I hit "file" instead of "send".)

Anyhow, when I come home from Shaw's I put the "amount saved" shown on the
receipt in an envelope. Now, we all know I haven't really saved that money,
but I like to think I have.

So once in a while I dip into the envelope and dine out on Shaw's. Today the
junior daughter and I went to Abe & Louie's for gin and tonic, rare burgers
with skinny fried onion rings, and chocolate-dipped strawberries. And I
still have $40 left in the envelope.

The lunch, BTW, was the annual treat for our husband/father. He died eight
years ago but we still "take him out for a burger" on his birthday.

That's such a nice way to remember DH & Father on his birthday.
Gone but NEVER, EVER forgotten.
Such a sweet story. Thank you.

What an excellent idea, Felice. I really need to start doing that. Lunch sounds great
too, and a great reason to have it out.

Good supper, Fleece. And a really nice thing to do; I'll bet you and
your DD had some good conversation about him over your G&T. Good on
you, Girl.

I used to do the same (calculate coupon savings) and donate the savings
to the World Hunger Relief fund drive my (former) church used to
participate in.

This is a good way to keep his memory alive. My father is gone, but on
his birthday and Father's Day, I cook some of his favorite meals.

And I'll bet they taste better than usual! Nice idea.
