Ordering "Food Stuff" Christmas Gifts
 

Can someone suggest a company that sells "food items" ect for Christmas? I
am looking for
good quality and not too terrible expense. I have used "Harry & David" and
"Wolferman's" in the past but would like something different.

Appreciate any ideas. Looking for unusual.

I ordered (for the second time in three years) Penzey's gift packs. One for
each of my brothers based on what type of cooking/food they like. This time
I got Asian spices and the salad dressing mix set.

Also ordered (from Cooking.com) a quesadilla baker for one brother (I have
one and we use it at work for pot lucks; love it!). For the other brother a
sort of electric buffet server thing that has a covered warming plate for
tortillas and lets you make the ingredients for fajiatas on the other end.

Each of them will also get a butter bell. Oh, and I got a wine box for the
one who really likes wine.

Pinot Noir is excellent as well. I just sent three mixed half-cases
(two bottles each) a month or so ago across the US (three different
destinations) for under $230, total. They charge only what it costs
them for packaging and shipping. Nice folk. Transaction can be done
by e-mail and credit card.

They are a good source for "cheeshead" - type stuff. Some people
deride them, but it's okay for what it is - the people I gift with
their stuff certainly have no complaints...besides which, a good
friend's mother works there every holiday season (taking orders over
the phone), primarily to get outside of the house (she's retired) but
also to get their 40% employee discount. Since I'm able to get this
discount through this connection, it sure does help with the holiday
budget :-)

The only thing I can tell you is that I bake unusual cookies for holiday
baking and sell them for $ 15.00 a dozen plus shipping. I make
wonderfully rich butter shortbread from a very old family recipe, I make
"spekulaas" a Dutch cookie that has so many spices in it it's
practically a breakfast (quite savoury and delicious) and Danish cookies
of all kinds. I also do batches of bleu cheese wafers which make a
wonderful appetizer. You are welcome to email me if you like!
