Default The Chuckle of the Day (CotD)

The Chuckle of the Day (CotD)

I created it on May 13, 2005, to add a little visual food humor to r.f.c
for the enjoyment of the members. I got a sweet and sour response that
never ended.

My idea was to make it seem like an imaginary business with staff that
always got one Chuckle of the Day (CotD) out on time at 5:00am every day to
r.f.c.

I thought it was very original and fitting.

The responses were more enjoyment than "the job." Thanks to those who
enjoyed it. It was a pleasure of my life.

Like a play on Broadway, it had a good run.

"If we've made you chuckle, we've done our job."

Thank to the staff who helped out and made it almost feel like a real
business.

Dear Andy,

I am really really sorry to see the demise of CotD, and sorry to know that
you feel it's run its course.

I most sincerely hope that it is not also the end of your posting here.

I have greatl enjoyed the CotDs and your contributions to rfc.

Damn! I knew your alarm clock would break someday. Thank you for the
good times - while they lasted.

You've sent many good vibes my way with your light hearted posts and
daily diversions. Your humor was greatly appreciated by me (and more
than a "few" others here).

Luv,
sf

G'day Andy,

I can remember it starting, but I can't remember it being that long
ago! [One of the problems with aging -- everything happened at least
twice as long ago as you "remember"!]

Ted shuffled out of his cave and grunted these great (and sometimes not
so great) words of knowledge:

Thank you for the humor you have brought to an otherwise non humorous
news group. I for one, will sorely miss the CotD and the humor it brought.

What a great idea it would be to have an email list of anyone who wants
his daily junk postings to come directly to them. Then those who want it
get it, and those who think a cooking group isn't the place for all that
flotsam and jetsam would both be happy!
Maybe a cat lovers mailing would be appropriate too?

ObFood- It is SilkNog time!! I've never enjoyed soy milk before but I
love this stuff and in particular with a little Bailey's Irish Cream in
it. That was my breakfast this morning. I'm going to bring a carton in
to work to share with folks tonight, but sadly can't bring the Bailey's
Irish Cream in with it..

Thanks for a daily laugh, for being responsive to suggestions to
improve the overall experience, and for labeling the COTD so that
those who didn't care for it could just ignore it.

Filtering (or KF) is just too difficult for the truly lazy and
ungifted that read this 'group so they whine loudly and bitch
directly. Those that don't know what a filter or KF are bray the
loudest since it interferes with their pleasures directly.

<shrug>

Like you, I enjoyed Andy's often OT comics. It's certainly better
than the noise the polute the 'group with bitchin' and moanin' and
groanin' about.

ObFood: Nachos tonight.

ObBitch: Mezzetta http://www.mezzetta.com/ are the WORST jalapenos
I've ever eaten! WHO thought putting SUGAR (or something that was
SWEET into the canning process was a Good Thing(tm)?! Yeesh!

Actually.. some folks have *some* things of interest to say and if one
kill files them they'd never see the times they actually can be
interesting and have valuable contributions.
I like to give folks a new chance to shine every day!
And trust me.. while some "whine and bitch directly" many more do it
behind your back and privately. <shrug>

So what are your plans now, Andy? Are you just ending CotD, or are you
leaving rfc altogether, or temporarily?

I seem to recall (but I could be wrong), that you once said early on that
you used to post on rfc (before appearing here as Andy), but were not a
very pleasant person at that time and in the other personna. I never
observed anything like that when you appeared as Andy. I've always been
curious...

Whatever you do, best wishes go with you. If you are actually leaving rfc,
I know you will be missed by me and many others.
