I missed the saga but I assume you moved. We moved last July and lost
a deep fryer and bamboo steamer. Louise thinks they're mixed in with
the Christmas tubs. We'll see this weekend when we start getting that
stuff out. I'd rather not decorate but I'll lose that debate with her
in a heartbeat.

I was wondering, remember? You had said you had lots of practice
unpacking... I was wondering how you could find stuff so fast!!

For me, it takes some time to find exactly what I want....especially
the cooking utensils!!

Moving into my current residence (certainly not from another state, let
alone another country) 10 years ago... suffice to say I had all the boxes
packed and neatly labelled as to what room they should go in. My oldest
brother offered to "help" me move - heh. I'd hired movers. I was at the
apartment office arranging to get my phone line fixed - the prior tenants
had installed a security system that interfered with the phone - my dog was
seriously ill and at the vet. While I was gone, my brother told the movers
to just pile all the boxes in one room rather than pay attention to what
room they were marked for. Gee, thanks, bro. I'm still unpacking boxes
occasionally.

It took me forever that night just to find the bath towels, soap and
shampoo. All I wanted to do was take a shower and collapse, but I had no
idea where the sheets were. Oh, there! Under three heavy boxes of books!
Sheesh. He seemed to think he was helping because they were being paid by
the hour. Apparently he thought it was expedient for them to simply pile
everything up in one room. Excuse me, you're not the one paying them!

Huh! I know just where she is coming from. I have all my boxes packed for a
move and am working with minimal kitchen stuff

Yeah, I'm a military brat. When the military was moving us (all my pre-age
21 life) everything was done according to a plan. I tried to have a plan.
But said plan was thwarted by my brother. All because I had to go argue
with the phone company because the former tenants installed (against their
lease) a security system that screwed up the telephone lines. (sigh)

I was worried about my dog; needed to be able to reach the vet and vice
versa. Sampson pulled through and lived to the ripe old age of 17. Another
couple of months he'd have been 18. But I'm still digging out from under
boxes piled in this friggin room! No more do I get my brother to "help" me
move.

Hehehe I can believe that debate is a foregone conclusion! Don't worry on
the 'saga'. We are fairly new to the group and I havent posted all that much
yet. A few recipes and a comment or so most days.

Right now, Don's filtering 'tupperware' into 'has a lid, has no lid'. Once
done, I imagine most will find its mate.

Military arranged for packers pretty much label the room on the outside of
the box. It helps alot.

Uhoh... Helpful brothers...

Grin, I feel your pain. In our case, the contract actually has them unpack
all boxes and put everything away, but you can never find things again if
you do that. Like most experienced folks who have moved several times, we
unpack our own then call the city for a box pickup later.

Oh, it's been a trial! I had to cook a very different style due to lack of
my normal 'stuff'. On the crockpot, I've had and been using one at *least*
once a week for 27 years now. In fact, that first one lasted until 5 years
ago <grin, love Rival!>

I don't go overboard on the 'plan' but now it's a few boxes a day. Kitchen
mostly unpacked now.

Good, I am happy for that. Thats a good run for a dog. Sorry for your loss
but he did live a longer than usual life which is good.

Heheh 10 years later? Hey, figure your Xmas gifts are done this year as you
wouldnt recall whats in there anymore! Meantime Charlotte is delightedly
looking over all the books we had in storage. Unpacking 3-4 boxes a day of
books.
