Still sorting through the reports on the Net. Tasty antioxidants can't do any real harm can they? |

We did get a box of South African clementines earlier in the autumn. The ones on the shelves now seem to be from California. |

Still sorting through the reports on the Net. Tasty >antioxidants can't do any real harm can they? I found a book at Costco within the last year, "12 Best Foods Cookbook" by Dana Jacobi. It lists the foods, the nutrients and recipes for using them. For blueberries: "BENEFITS AT A GLANCE Serving size: 1/2 cup fresh or frozen, 1/4 cup dried Vitamins: A, C, E, beta-carotene Minerals: Potassium, Manganese, Magnesium Phytonutrients: Anthocyanins, chlorogenic acid, ellagic acid, catechins, resvertrol Also Provides: Fiber Ounce for ounce, blueberries provide more antioxidants than any other fresh fruit or vegetable, including ellagic acid, plus cancer-fighting chlorogenic acid. Recent studies indicate that eating blueberries may improve memory, intelligence, and coordination. Recommended servings: Every day is ideal, but try to eat berries a least three time a week. Also eat: blackberries, cherries, cranberries, raspberries, strawberries and purple grapes." -- Susan N. "Moral indignation is in most cases two percent moral, 48 percent indignation, and 50 percent envy." Vittorio De Sica, Italian movie director (1901-1974) |

TY! That's the biochemical/nutrient profile but looking for the mechanism too (hey I'm a biochemist; we like to know these things). May not be known at this point; that sort of research can take a long time. |
