Tonight's show of Martha Stewart says:
Andrea Bocelli performs, chef Christopher Harkness prepares a French treat; Martha's favorite recipe for latkes; a tour of Russ & Daughters. It's on the Living channel EST 8pm. Dee Dee |

Didn't like Martha's latkes at all LOL. Russ & Daughters is the sort of shop that would bankrupt me if one were in the neighbourhood. |

I guess if you don't like one of them, try another. I saw the long thread about latkes. I guess it is something one could discuss forever. My feeling about them all: what's to dislike? Potatoes, grease, etc. Good stuff. Most of all my impression of the program: I couldn't get over how long Andrea's feet are. I was wondering if they are intentionally long to let him know if he starts tipping to the front when he is singing. Just couldn't get it out of my mind when he was singing. Also he looked pretty puny to me, and there Martha is with her husky voice -- is it a permanent cold she has, I wonder? I hope he is not ill -- But he sounds pretty good. Dee Dee |

Potatoes, grease, etc. Good stuff. LOL and the holiday passed without us making a single latke!! Disgraceful! I like them midway in texture between Martha's 'rough cut' latkes and the smoother potato cakes. > > Most of all my impression of the program: I couldn't get over how long > Andrea's feet are. Martha is getting over laryngitis; it can take a week or two to recover full voice. |

Some of it looks and tastes raw and very mushy to me, producing a gag reflex, so I've always avoided learning about it. I prefer smoked because it is drier, and poached and baked and grilled salmon. From there, it is all mystery to me. I don't know what that salmon they serve. Maybe they didn't say anything specific, but I know they did say 'salmon' was there biggest seller. But they did come out with some sort of bread - bagels? - and salmon to give to all the audience from the 'Daughters.' Dee Dee |

I grew up with all sorts of lox, of course, but as an adult, began to discover and appreciate all sorts of wonderful cured and smoked salmons. I make my own gravlax this time of year and am quite proud of it, but there is something about a first rate smoked Irish salmon (I have had it there and over here in various places) that practically makes me weak in the knees. I don't know whether your reply was meant to be funny, but I got a good laugh, as I figure that you probably know that I know absolutely nothing about salmon, and indeed my answer would not be forthcoming for many a moon. This answer reminds me of a lady at f-i-l's senior living dining, where one woman who 'always' waits until I get a total mouthful, then asks me a question. I swear she has a glint in her eye, then says, "No rush." So cute, she was. Miss Miriam. Dee Dee |
