Default Red and Green Oak lettuce

I bought this a last week at Trader Joe's. I thought it looked
interesting. It's now my favorite lettuce.

It is also known as "red" lettuce. I love that and Boston/butter
lettuce for salads and sandwiches.... what I buy depends on my mood.
Sometimes I buy Romaine, but I never buy head lettuce.

I love that red lettuce.
Delicious -- thanks for the pictures.

But you got me going -- DH just brought this home. It is $2.99 for each
head at the grocery store, but $2.99 for two at Costco. It keeps a long
time because of the roots. I also put a wet paper two around the roots. It
is very tender, too.

Here is a biscotti he bought at Trader Joe's (in CT) the other day.
Delicious. Cranberry & Pistachio.

I buy this also. What got my attention with the red and green oak was
the crispness of the green lettuce. I usually have to add some romaine
with the other.

Dang, glad I didn't see that, it looks too good.

LOL!! :-)

These are the letti(?) that we use all the time. It usually comes in the
mescalun mix we get, but the individual heads are available also.

Been using them for years, and have just recently converted my sister
and BIL over to them as well.

I get the mescalun mix and add rocket to it for the peppery bite.

The mix goes great as the L in a BLT.
