Default New Crockpot Yippiee!!!

I finally broke down and bought a new crockpot.
I have a small one that will hold not much more than one chicken, but
I knew I had a larger one somewhere, and Stan and I have been puzzled
as to what happened to it.
Well I found it, Thanksgiving day...at my sister's. My nephew was
keeping his delicious mashed potatoes warm in it. I complimented my
BIL on his crockpot and asked him where he got it. (my sister doesn't
cook) He couldn't remember and we all got a good laugh when I told him
that it's mine. I let him keep it.

I bought a Hamilton Beach 6 quart Stay or Go.
It's really neat. The side of the crockpot has latches that snap onto
the lid so when you transport it the contents don't spill out. I can't
tell you how many times I've packed a crockpot in a box surrounded by
towels and praying the lid would stay put.
There's also a slot in the handle of the lid to hold the serving spoon
that comes with it.

I put the latches where they could be seen in the picture. No don't
latch the lid down while cooking.

A nice thick rubber seal on the lid.

It sounds great, and so does the pork and sauerkraut!

I just purchased a Hamilton Beach 5 qt. slow cooker and I am in love
with it. It has the latches, too. Mine has a probe for temperature
cooking. I potted a brisket in it and it was perfectly cooked.

I needed to replace the "programmable" Rival Crock Pot my daughter gave
me after it burned my beans. There was no way to regulate the heat on
that sucker. It ran hot, no matter where I set it. I threw it and the
burned beans in the trash, bought the Hamilton Beach and have not looked
back.

You will love yours as much as I love mine.

I have found that if I spray a crockery cooker with PAM before cooking,
it's easier to clean and cheaper than buying those special liners.

The snap-down lid on your new crock-pot sounds like a good reason for me
to buy myself a new one! I've got a smaller crock, and I've been keeping
the lid on by putting the entire pot into a plastic grocery-bag and
tying the hand-hold loops together over the top. That gave me a way to
carry the spoon too. It works, but not perfectly...
