My buddy, who's part Polish, has got me using kielbasa with kraut, but I was raised with pork chops being the "kraut meat". When I read Koko's post and looked at those photos, what came into my head like a freight train? Country style ribs! Damn, does that sound good. And even better now that you've also mentioned it. ![]() -- Blinky Killing all posts from Google Groups The Usenet Improvement Project - http://improve-usenet.org |

Maybe I'm doing it wrong. I've got both kraut and pork chops, but didn't want to make it without using ribs, which I don't have. -- Wayne Boatwright Date: Sunday, December(XII) 16th(XVI),2007(MMVII) ******************************************* Today is: Third Sunday of Advent Countdown 'til Christmas 1wks 6hrs 6mins 51secs ******************************************* Cats must knock the brush Mom uses on me into the garbage can just because. |

I think some do the meat/kraut/potatoes individually because they are emulating restaurants who do it that way to save work. I have been disappointed a number of times when I see "pork & sauerkraut" on a menu and it arrives with meat and a scoop of heated kraut on the side. > >> mmmm going to be good over mashed potatoes. >> http://i14.tinypic.com/835izb5.jpg > > Now I'm hungry for [country-style] ribs and kraut. I purchased some boneless rib chops because they looked good in the package. But unwrapped they were sorta formless, over an inch thick in places, looked fattier than any chops I've seen. They were basically round but you couldn't exactly tell where the bone had been. Wonder what I purchased? Is it meat that's closer to boneless country-style rib? I browned and braised a couple smothered; the meat was closer to pulled pork from butt than tighter country- style ribs. Guess I ought to have asked. Any clues? |

I *do* drain the kraut, but I make up for the lost liquid by adding hard apple cider. (Hornsby's is the brand I generally use.) Bob |

Shy, you? How can you say you're shy when your mug is plastered on jam jars all over the twin cities and beyond... and your Sunday go to church bonnet is a pickle hat! LOL I don't think regular spare ribs are very good braised... actually wasteful too as they are comparatively costly and there's not much to eat on those bones. Country style ribs are much better... shoulder chops are better yet. Naturally with kraut good home made kielbasa is the best. SHELDON |

My Sunday Go To Meeting Bonnet is a Wallaroo hat, the Brindabella. I just acquired a new one, burgundy color.
