Default PING: Wayne Boatwright ( gooseberries)

Wayne,

It was you, wasn't it, that was looking for fresh gooseberries? I don't know if you
have a Whole Foods near you, but I was in there buying some El Rey white chocolate
and stopped in produce to get some of the Cara Cara oranges when I saw a small stack
of clamshells full of fresh gooseberries.
Thought, maybe if you had one near you, they might have them too.

:-)

Yes, it was me, Kimberly. And there are several Whole Foods stores in the
Phoenix area. None so close to where I live, but *definitely* worth the
trip to buy gooseberries! I shall call first, but if they've got them,
I'll go to buy them. I'm so grateful that you remembered!

Thanks so much!

I'm so glad to have remembered! I usually can't remember what I did 5 minutes
ago...lol.
Let me know if you find them, and what you make! :-)

I love it, too. It's perfect for truffles, so smooth and such good flavor. I don't
buy any other white chocolates these days.

Thanks for calling it to my attention. I did see some El Rey white recently
when I bought a 9 oz. bar of El Rey Apamate. But as I had some white
Ghiradelli sitting on the shelf from at least 2 years ago and never used it,
I thought that I shouldn't be buying it. There is something about white
chocolate that reminds me of eating pure crisco, or something artificial.

Maybe I'll try a 'touch' of the white El Rey next time I see it.

I'll gladly do so, but according to the response to my phone call to one
of the local stores, that may not be until spring. :-(
