The same way peanuts can get into foods with which you'd not associate peanuts... many food processing plants prepare an array of foods under the same roof using the same equipment... could very conceivably be wheat flour products being prepared in close proximity to cured meats and with the same machinery. Food companys are required to make known on the label whether a product may contain a typical allergen, like gluten and nuts. |

You're being ridiculous. Why would any company desirous of staying in business and prospering even think to do such a dastardly deed... just because that's how your evil mind works doesn't mean others are so nefariously afflicted. |

You didn't dream it. 6.8 earthquake just off the coast of Gisborne, a small city about as far east as you can get, on North Island. One fatality (a little old lady who had a heart attack from the fright), a few injuries, some buildings down in the CBD. Miche -- Electricians do it in three phases |

Thank you, Dee Dee, for the kind thoughts. We are contemplating Europe for the Spring or Fall. We are approaching the time when our travel becomes limited and want to get as much under our belts as possible. We are looking through some brochures the travel agent gave us for river tours. Our national museum, Te Papa Tongarewa, is built on big rubber earthquake stabilisers, and there are windows to allow people to look at them. Miche -- Electricians do it in three phases |

Did they have the "Antarctic storm" room available when you were there? They simulate a wind/snow storm, and it's an interesting (cold!) experience. > >> I am curious as to how they could get gluten into ham and bacon. > > > > Mix it into a slurry and inject it with the brine. The room was there and working, however we have gone to great lengths to remove ourselves from snow (pardon my use of a 4 letter word) and cold (oops there's another)weather. I was not going to don a parka and boots and deliberately subject myself to C.O.L.D. :-) I did go on that tractor ride outside. That was a huge amount of fun, especially when the water came up to the windows. -- Janet Wilder Bad spelling. Bad punctuation Good Friends. Good Life |
