Default REC: Spiced Walnuts

This was posted by ryannosaurus in here back in '01. I've made these every
holiday season since then (made some just now--quadrupled the recipe). One
of my favorite holiday treats.

Mary

Spiced Walnuts (Netta Kobbe)

2 cups walnuts
1 cup sugar
6 Tbl milk
1/3 tsp salt
1/3 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla

Combine sugar, milk, salt & cinnamon. Cook to soft ball stage. Add
vanilla and nuts, stir until stiff. Turn onto wax paper and separate
nuts.

anyone seen ryannosaurus lately?
do you think this recipe would work with pecans or black
walnuts? those are the only nuts i currently have in the
house, & i'm swimming in black walnuts. it was a bumper year.

If it works with walnuts, it should work with most other nuts like
pecans. I have a recipe for spiced walnuts or pecans, not remembering,
and I make it with pecans, walnuts and almonds. Comes out great with
all of them.
