Follow-ups set to rec.food.equipment

Hey, Brian, did you buy a knife?

Favorite Son and I did his Christmas shopping today; we went to Kitchen
Window in Uptown and had a very nice experience. Ken (?) sold us some
Wusthof products - the 8" Grand Prix II chef's knife (hollow ground) for
$60, the 7" sharpening steel for $10, and a couple paring knives (a
birds beak and a 'regular' 3" one) for $7 each. The recipient was
pleased and the purchaser was pleased. Doesn't get much better 'n that.

Ken was knowledgeable about what they had to offer. He had good things
to say about the Kyocera ceramic knives, too.

I went in expecting to buy a couple Forschner-Victorinox knives based on
Cook's Illustrated's recommendations but the End User preferred the heft
of the Wusthofs and I didn't feel that the $60 was an outrageous price
so that's what we came home with.

I've never shopped at Kitchen Window before and I won't hesitate to go
there again. And, heck, there's a Penzeys right there, too. Two birds,
one stone.
