Pedro/Peter means 'Rock' :-)

But apart from that, it supposedly dates back to Native
Indians/Americans.
They made soup in an animal pouch using hot rocks as the heating source.

Argh, don't remind me! My sister has a man's name with a cute
spelling, but she's always hated it. She used to bug me about
my getting a girls name, but as I soon discovered the Net, I
found out the truth. Another reason why I wish my mother
was still alive, so I could tell her what she did to me... ;-)

LOL!! :-)

I look at some peoples/kids names and think "Do your parents really hate
you *that* much??!!"

:-)

I chose both my names about 25 years ago, but I've never been to
Lucania!!

Oh seriously! Between the "soap opera names" (whatever current fave
show/character) to the deliberate misspellings of classic names (perhaps
some tacky attempt to be cute or "individual") to anything with multiple
apostrophes...the poor kids get labeled "lower socio-economic class"
before anyone ever lays eyes on them. It is just sad.

And then you have the straight out whack-jobs that are called "parents"
who name their kids Peaches, Fifi Trixibelle, Pixie, and Tiger Lily.

Very, sad. It happened to me to read of a Maveric (yes, without the final
"k"), a "Gei Ar" (plain italian spelling of Dallas's JR) and I know some
thousands of Pamela, LOL
