Woohoo!!!!!!!!!! :)

What did everyone cook/eat on Super Bowl Sunday? We smoked four slabs of
baby back ribs and cooked a mess of Buffalo wings. Also put out an antipasto
platter, some assorted frozen appetizers from TJ's, bruschetta,
spinach-artichoke dip with chips, and an assortment of cheeses and crackers.
Dessert was an Easy-Bake Oven cake (baked especially for the occasion by our
5-year-old). ;)

What was on the menu for everyone else?

We ate before the game. I split a chicken in halve and roasted it, along with
roasted potatoes, carrots and Brussels sprouts.

BTW... that was the first time I tried rosting Brussels sprouts, and I have to
say thay were good, really good. My wife thought they were much better than
boiled sprouts.


What a slow came.... until the last quarter.

I don't remember what a Super Bowl is, but we had lamb pathia,
which is a dish with lamb (marinated in curry spices, then
broiled) in a pomegranate/cashew/okra/tomato/potato/allspice/cardmom
curry... also a habenero in there, served over brown rice.

Cool.

I bought some roasted Brussels sprouts at the Whole Foods in
Chelsea last week, and they were really good *except* for being
way oversalted (like too much convenience and deli food is).

I love Brussels sprouts but don't like them boiled. Normally
I sautee them in olive oil. I'll have to try roasting them soon.

We weren't even going to watch the Super Bowl....but ended up watching the last 3
quarters once we got the leaky roof fixed! I didn't do any of the traditional foods
either. We had rigatoni & meatballs for dinner, and I fixed guac and salsa for my
husband and his brother earlier. Yours sounds good though!

With all that stress it's good I ate my big meal at noon. I just had
buffalo wings and potato skins. What a game.

I usually saute Brussels sprouts with a bit of bacon and onion, but I love
roasted BS, too.

Mary--the only one in her household who will eat Brussels sprouts (although
the twins are only 16 months old, so there's still hope)

BTW, I thought of you today as we drove around Rumson killing

I was kind of wondering why so many people counted the Giants
out like that. They've been playing well and there was something
about them. I thought they would make a game of it.

From what I'm hearing, this is one of the biggest (if not the biggest)
upsets because of the Patriots being 18-0 going into the Super Bowl and the
fact that the Patriots were favored to win by 12 points.

LOL! But did you stop at Delicious Orchards along the way...? (Probably
wasn't near where you were going for brunch.)

Gotta say, I miss that area so much. My in-laws (who used to live in Little
Silver) moved to SoCal almost six years ago, so we don't visit NJ very often
at all these days. I love Monmouth County--such a beautiful place.

We had grilled pork steaks that had been marinaded in soy and brown
sugar, a shredded cabbage salad with a dressing that was basically
EVOO, lemon juice and ground black pepper, & rice. Not fancy, but it
was good.

I'm sticking with the Jets in 1969. They were in a different
*league* (read: not the NFL) and nobody respected that entire league --
and the spread was *19*.

Yes indeed! I am thrilled that the Giants won! A friend of mine has a
home theater room with a 7 foot high definition projector TV, so ten of
us gathered there for food and the game. Our host made a big crock pot
of home made meatballs in tomato sauce, laced with Jack Daniels and
another crock pot full of sliced roast beef in gravy and we made
sandwiches out of it. Nothing fancy, but very good!

I brought some tortilla chips, potato chips, salsa (hot and mild),
pretzels, and some other munchies. Another friend brought a case of
bottled beer and he replaced the label on each bottle with a home made
label that said "Giants suck!" It sure was fun to see the look on his
face when the Giants won!

i was thinking that, too. plus, no one thought that pussy with the
long sideburns could possibly win.
