Default Ever use PATAK's Cooking sauces?

A few times in my life I have eaten Indian food and loved it. Mostly
curry chicken or curry beef. Recently, I was in a Meijer's store and
saw in the International isle Patak's cooking sauces and they looked
quite good. I bought one and will be trying it tonight.

The one I bought is the Sweet Peppers & Coconut sauce. I will be
cutting up a couple of boneless chicken breasts and saute' until
slightly brown and then it says to pout the sauce over and cook for 20
minutes. Serve with white rice.

Man, this really sounds good. It looks good on the jar. I hope it
tastes as good as it looks!

I just visited their website and I am amazed at the number of sauces
they have. I am really getting hungry now. See for yourself:

I've used the spicy tomato cardamom sauce a few times and it's pretty
good.

I have used some of their curry pastes and chutneys and had good results.
On of my wife's favourite dishes is a curried chicken with red peppers and
coconut milk. Cut the chicken into strips and season with slat and
pepper. Heat up some oil on a pan and add some curry paste and stir it
wound for a but, then add a chopped onion and saute until it starts to
soften. Toss in the chiken and some sliced red pepper. When the chicken
is done, throw in some coconut milk, a spoonful of fish sauce and about
the same amont of lemon juice. Thicken the sauce a little and then add
some cilantro just before serving.

I have used their mango chutney for mango chicken. Brown thin chicken
breasts in butter in a pan. Remove the browned chicken and keep it war.
Fry a chopped onion abd red pepper strips in the remaining butter until
softened. Then add about a cup of heavy cream, 1/2 a cup of mango chutney,
and a tblsp. each of red wine vinegar and Dijon mustard and stir until teh
sauce thickens a bit. Return the chicken to the sauce and serve.

I haven't been able to find my favorite Patak's lately. I'm not sure
what it was called, but it came in a small glass jar and was mostly
green chiles with oil, fenugreek, and other spices. (I usually don't
like fenugreek.) It's not listed on their web site; maybe it's gone :-(

I mixed it with rice and ate with canned sardines or kippers for a quick
meal.

I heart fenugreek! It is the main ingredient of my most favorite
Moroccan dish.

(There is a HUGE Indian grocery store not too far from work that I have
been meaning to get to. I will look for it this weekend.
Besides, I think I might need some more fenugreek anyway.)

Haven't used the "simmer sauces", but the curry pastes are pretty good.

The trouble with Patak's is not that they taste bad. In fact
they are pretty good but like a lot of Indian food they are
overloaded with unhealthy grease.

Pataks are a very good brand.

The Jalfrezi is another one to try......

And I usually have a jar or two of pastes in the fridge as well.

We pour the oil off the top of the jar of curry paste and then keep in
the fridge, to no ill-effect.

No. Too high in sodium.

Default Ever use PATAK's Cooking sauces?

I cooked my dinner, as explained in the initial post, and man was it
hot and spicy! The only other complaint that I have is that I should
have used two jars because there wasn't much sauce after the chicken
was coated. It said to add some water for more sauce, but I did not
want to dilute the flavor.

All in all, I did enjoy it as did my buddy. Now I will try another one
of their sauces. Also, has anyone heard of Curry King sauces? I guess
you just cook the chicken and mix with the sauce over rice. I intend
on trying some of these:

This time it will be a milder sauce.
