A 2kg leg of lamb, deboned (that was the poochs' dinner :-), the inside of
the leg sprinkled with sea salt and cracked black pepper, spread with seeded mustard and a bit of some hot Aussie mustard, slivers of garlic shoved in some cuts, and the whole lot sprinkled with chopped rosemary. She who likes lamb wanted it rolled and tied. I wanted to roast it flat. It was rolled and tied. Chunks of potatos, wedges of pumpkin and a couple of whole carrots where thrown into a hot pan with some EVOO, garlic cloves and some rosemary. Served with mint jelly, and a bit of garlic aoli (for me). I think we're safe from Vampires tonight :-) -- Peter Lucas Brisbane Australia At this spectacle even the most gentle must feel savage, and the most savage must weep. The steak was rubbed with fresh cracked pepper, onion powder and garlic powder earlier this morning and I will cook a mess of sweet onion and mushrooms to top the meat in the sandwich as well. Maybe even come up with a dipping sauce from the pan juices... And toast the fresh cut rye bread with garlic butter. I might've missed some posts though. I know you said you had a cold/flu. It's hard to think of cooking when that happens, heh? I tend to do this sort of packing-in food. I'm trying to change my style -- although it's difficult. Over the past months, I've tried to get most of the staples that are doing nothing but cluttering my view, and try to think more of planning. I know this will never happen, but I'm leaning towards it. I get overwhelmed with trying most days to decide on what to prepare dependant on what's most expedient to use, how long I've had a certain product, etc. It's starting to get under my skin. Dee Dee |

Ham and cabbage (diced and sliced) some butter/pepper etc and wrapped in alfoil and baked in the oven is nice. It's a Kiwi dish, and they usually put it in a saucepan and bury it in a Hungi pit. I think they might use corned beef with the cabbage too. -- Peter Lucas Brisbane Australia At this spectacle even the most gentle must feel savage, and the most savage must weep. (Vegetarians should read the posts about wholesale handbags or cheap
Tiffany jewelry right about now.) By popular demand, I made Singapore chile crab for the Valentine's Day dinner. I took the day off for bureaucracy and a doctor's appointment, so I swang past Central Market and asked for a feisty crab. It was indeed feisty. It fought every inch of the way into the pot, but it did not die in vain. I served the crab with jasmine rice and a simple salad. SO approved. Nothing like a fine dinner in the NW. Cindy -- C.J.
