![]() This morning I made an omelet out of what sounded good. Damn convention. ![]() I ended up with a shrimp (medium), sausage (Boar's Head bratwurst) and onion omelet and served it up with Cholula garlic chili hot sauce. It was just great. But does it sound tres weird to the rest of y'all? -- Blinky Killing all posts from Google Groups The Usenet Improvement Project: http://improve-usenet.org Blinky: http://blinkynet.net |

Not weird at all... just a French version of shrimp Cantonese in lobster sauce... could easily sub bits of shark for shrimp, call it Snark(y). http://www.recipesource.com/ethnic/a...antonese1.html |

It was mostly the combination of shrimp and brats that I wondered about. Blinky loves brats of the sausage variety. Come to think of it, he loves the kind that fall off boats, too; behavior isn't reflected in flavor and youngsters are nice and tender. After I posted my question, though, I thought, hey, I think there are - cajun, I suppose - soups and/or stews with both. -- Blinky Killing all posts from Google Groups The Usenet Improvement Project: http://improve-usenet.org Blinky: http://blinkynet.net |

Those brats that "fall" overboard aren't spoiled? > After I posted my question, though, I thought, hey, I > think there are - cajun, I suppose - soups and/or stews > with both. Different sausage, different texture, different taste; but you make due with what you have. Gumbo does sound good, though. The Ranger |

But does it sound tres weird to the rest of y'all? It sounds weird but yummy. I like weird but yummy. Today, we had grilled-onion-and-mushroom quesadillas at the local Mexican place. Again, weird but yummy. Serene |

Again, weird but yummy. Only having had them from three restaurants, I tried making fish tacos a couple nights ago. I wanted to develop my own, so I didn't look up any recipes. I went from personal tastes and expectations and a vague memory of what was probably in the ones I had in the beach towns and out on a pier. I grilled a basa fillet and steamed a couple tortillas (I didn't have any taco shells; I far prefer soft tacos). I didn't want a tomato-pasty type salsa, so I chopped onion, tomato and some japapeño, and pressed a clove of garlic. I applied half the fillet and those things to my taco. I added some cilantro and a bit of oregano, and little coarse ground black pepper. I got just about what I wanted. Since I wrapped the tortilla over on itself about an inch and a half with the second one, I guess I actually made more of a fish burrito with that one. Still good, by any name. ![]() My only problem was that I forgot that I had all the stuff for a bloody mary. Hey, I still do! <heads for the fridge after posting this> ![]() -- Blinky Killing all posts from Google Groups The Usenet Improvement Project: http://improve-usenet.org Blinky: http://blinkynet.net |
