My favorite bagel store, Bethesda Bagels, has come up with
something new to me: the Flagel. It's a bagel flattened to about
1/4 inch before baking. To someone like me who likes a chewy,
crusty bagel, they are great, even if they might not appeal to
traditionalists who feel that bagels should make teething rings
or weapons :-)

Still there and going strong tho' I personally prefer smoked
salmon for a real treat. Either Scottish or alder-smoked Pacific
salmon is good.

A good bagel can, and does, get eaten all alone, no toppings.

Oooh, yeah, cream cheese and smoked salmon for me.

A local bagel shop used to make a sandwich with bagels,
a fine-textured chicken salad with chopped pecans lettuce
and sliced tomato. It made a delicious lunch, but most of the
time the chicken salad was sold out by noon.

Bagel with kosher salt beef and a little mustard. Eaten at 3 AM with a
cup of coffee, some decent cheesecake (yes it won't be a kosher meal)
and the company of like-minded individuals at the Brick Lane (London)
bagel bakery.

I can take 'em or leave 'em; I don't go out of my way to look for them.
There's something about the chewy texture that sets my teeth on edge (pardon
the pun). Give me a nice fluffy biscuit for breakfast any day

During my one year stay in FL, Perkins had a $2.00 Sunday breakfast buffet.
I'd eat only biscuits and sausage country gravy up to bursting! YUM!!!!!!

Andy
7 lbs. to 200, from 247.
6'3" 207 lbs.

kili,

200 lbs. is my goal. I (thanks in part to r.f.c!!!) surged from 195 to 247.
At 195, people thought I was sick. Too skinny. From a 40" waist to 34". I'm
just not built to fit the BMI rating system!

Ummm, since biscuit means 'twice cooked' how do you get fluffy ones?

These are American style, which not even a faint shadow of European
biscuits or biscotti.
