My favorite bagel store, Bethesda Bagels, has come up with
something new to me: the Flagel. It's a bagel flattened to about 1/4 inch before baking. To someone like me who likes a chewy, crusty bagel, they are great, even if they might not appeal to traditionalists who feel that bagels should make teething rings or weapons :-) James Silverton Potomac, Maryland E-mail, with obvious alterations: not.jim.silverton.at.verizon.not |

Still there and going strong tho' I personally prefer smoked salmon for a real treat. Either Scottish or alder-smoked Pacific salmon is good. Oooh, yeah, cream cheese and smoked salmon for me. A local bagel shop used to make a sandwich with bagels, a fine-textured chicken salad with chopped pecans lettuce and sliced tomato. It made a delicious lunch, but most of the time the chicken salad was sold out by noon. gloria p |

Eaten at 3 AM with a cup of coffee, some decent cheesecake (yes it won't be a kosher meal) and the company of like-minded individuals at the Brick Lane (London) bagel bakery. *sigh* |
