Default Greek Cake

A few years back I was at a gathering where the hostess served a
desert called Greek Cake. It kind of reminded me of spice cake, but
seemed to have more nuts and raisins in it, and was spicier.

Looking back I wish I had tried to pursue the recipe. Would any of
you have an idea about such a cake and/or the recipe?

GREEK SPICE CAKE (DESSERT)

2 cup flour (sifted all-purpose)
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
4 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg, ground
1 tsp. cloves, ground
1/8 tsp. Kosher salt
1/8 tsp. allspice
2 eggs, large
1 cup sugar (regular)
1 cup brown sugar (light brown)
1 cup olive oil (EVOO)
1 cup buttermilk

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Crack and beat eggs in a small bowl thoroughly; mix in brown sugar.
Set aside.

In another bowl, mix the remaining dry ingredients together. Add
buttermilk and mix. Add eggs-and-brown-sugar mixture and stir together
until creamy.

Fold EVOO in last. Pour batter into lightly greased 9 x 9 inch pan.

Bake for 50 minutes at 350 degrees.

Do you mean "gliko tapsiu me ladi" ?
Or a variation of "karidopita" ?
Or "baklava" ?

Cheers,

I think you'll really like it. My friends love it lightly dusted with
confectioners sugar, too. That makes it too sweet for me but then
again, I like grinding more nutmeg and a skosh more cinnamon over it.
