The one I bought is something like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=230225133843 Except mine appears to be in better condition, and I have an additional cutter blade. But it hasn't arrived yet, so I can't really say for sure about condition. And I paid less than $50 total, including shipping. Now, there is an alternate form, but I'm not sure whether it is earlier or later: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=350036493919 Note the cast iron base, rather than wood. Of course, I have no reason to believe either of these machines works better than a modern machine, with its stainless steel and detents for the thickness adjustment, etc. And modern pasta machines are much cheaper. But as Molotov once said, you pay your money and take your chances. |

Of course, I'd really like a pasta maker like this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=200203832574 I saw one just like it in one of Lidia Bastianich's shows of the new series. She didn't own it, she went to some local guys (in Italy or Croatia), and they had one of these presses, but with a much nicer wooden frame, and made the pasta for her. |
