Using a marinade brush - hygiene issue

I've been using a pasty brush to brush marinades onto meat.

I am not sure what the best way to clean the brush is. I use some
washing-up liquid and massage it through the bristles.

Is this good enough to get rid of bacteria? What is the best way to clean
such a brush?

Cheers

I think this is fine as long as you use really hot water and make sure the
brush dries thoroughly.

Today you can find silicone brushes which do the job well
and clean up easily, especially if you have a dishwasher.
Inexpensive, as well.

The silicon brushes come in 2 sizes short and long handled...the long
handled one works well on the BBQ while grilling

I'll second that - silicone brushes are fabulous - after trying one
for the BBQ, bought them in a variety of sizes and love them all.

Sounds good, nothing like the disappointment of seeing a sad brush
after a run through the washer.

Oil. like olive oil is my issue in cleaning these.

I've got a silicone brush, and it's brilliant. I thoroughly recommend
them.

If people here didn't recommend them, I would not have been
interested ... they sure don't look like they'd work. I'm pleased
with the one I picked up. It's a short handle, though. Maybe I
should get one for the grill.

Yeah, I just thought I could also put it in a mug of boiled water the next
time I make a cup of tea, as well.

Cheers

I have just been looking at some of those on eBay. You can even get ones
with stainless steel handles, and look pretty good. I'll definitely get a
small one.

Cheers

That's a good idea. Then just turn it handle up in the same mug, to dry.
