Cooking Time: 0:00

[Amount] [Measure] [Ingredient (or Header)] -- [Preparation]
---------- ------------ ----------------------------------------------
5 tbsp Cocoa
1/2 cup Butter
1/4 cup White sugar
1 Egg
1/2 tsp Vanilla
2 cup Graham wafer crumbs
*********************** ************* MMMMM FILLING ************
***********************
1 1/4 cup Icing sugar
1/2 cup Butter
3 tbsp Custard (Birds)
Milk
*********************** ************* MMMMM ICING ************
***********************
3 oz Semi-sweet chocolate
2 tbsp Butter
2 drop Vanilla

[Preparation]
In a large saucepan melt the butter and stir in the cocoa and
sugar. Add 1 beaten egg with the vanilla to the melted butter.
Add the 2 cups of "Graham" wafers and mix well. Press this
mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased 9*9 inch pan. Place
in the refrigerator.

FILLING: Beat together icing sugar, butter, and custard. Add a
little milk if needed to make a smooth dough. Spread on first
layer and return to the refrigerator.

TOPPING: Melt chocolate, butter and vanilla in a saucepan. Work
quickly to get a smooth even layer. Return to the refrigerator to
set. Cut into bars. Refrigerate.

Or if you prefer and don't have time to whip this up, "Costco"
has an excellent bakery department and their "Nanaimo" bars
are.......well you know, once you have one bite....can't believe
I ate the whole thing!

Sure;

Dimitri

--CRUST:--

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
5 tbsp. powdered cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 1/2 c. graham cracker crumbs
1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans

--ICING:--

2 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. butter, softened
3 tbsp. egg custard mix (Jell-O section)
2 tbsp. milk
4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate

FOR THE CRUST: Place the butter, sugar, cocoa and vanilla in a saucepan.
Cook, stirring until sugar is dissolved, then add egg and mix well. Remove
from heat and stir in the graham cracker crumbs and nuts. Pack into an 8 x
12 inch pan and refrigerate until cooled.

TO MAKE THE ICING: Combine the powdered sugar, butter, custard mix and
milk, beating well. Spread over crust and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Melt
chocolate in the top of a double boiler over simmering water and pour evenly
over icing. Refrigerate once more until chilled. To serve, cut into
squares. This makes about 24 to 30 squares.

Sorry, but there is no such thing as a good Nanaimo bar from Costco or any
other grocery store. I was raised on the real McCoy. My mother used to make
Naniamo bars at least once a month. They were incredible, but sinfully rich.
One was never enough, and two was one too many.

That's how I describe a good pecan pie. One slice is not enough, two
slices are too much.
