It is a shame that there is so much Spam here. I will probably leave
the Usenet group and just use an equivilent Yahoo group.

Who cares of your ability to use filters and/or skip over spam messages?

It sure is a shame. I haven't been able to filter with Trend P-cillin. The
senders change names minute by minute. I've always been opposed to moderated
groups, though some of the yahoo groups seem to work well. Should we start a
moderated usenet group?

There already is a moderated usenet group - rec.food.recipes. Knock
yourself out!

You might consider learning how to filter correctly, and with what
software. I - and many of us in here (and other places, of course) see no
spam.

No. Just learn to filter. Be smarter than "ICURRYY4Me".

I've been aware of rec.food.recipes for several years. It doesn't work,
somewhat because of its title, but more importantly, because it's moderated.
I don't think a moderated NG works on usenet. It somehow does to a degree
with yahoo groups.

You're contradicting yourself. Yahoo isn't Usenet. You asked for a
moderated Usenet group. Ergo... never mind.

blinky, i was meaning to ask victor this, but maybe you know: is
there a pointer to your excellent tips on the r.f.c. f.a.q.'s page?

hmm, i guess i could look. <whistles tunelessly> apparently not.
well, i hate to suggest work for others (not really), but it's a
thought. then again, i don't know many people actually read them
before plunging into the fray.

I'm the new kid in town; I'd think not. Besides, if there were, the good
folks who think gmail and Google Groups are the same thing would want a
link of their own.

Probably the odds of someone reading a FAQ first are about like yours
for winning the lottery.
