... It's actually quite dumb to bread beautiful jumbo shrimp... that's like those moronic recipes that call for grinding/chopping jumbo shrimp when small shrimp will do ... no kudos for being a kitchen jerk. That statement in moronic Joe |

It does seem a waste to bread good jumbo shrimp. It certainly not my favourite way to do shrimp. However, I am tempted to try my hand at coconut shrimp. |

Out of the 3 lbs I had of these this was the last pound as the other two pounds where grilled. Here is the basic recipe if you are interested: Coconut Shrimp Peanut or vegetable oil, for frying 1/4 cup cornstarch *1/2 cup Panko bread crumbs ( I use the honey flavored) - optional mixed with coconut flakes 1 large egg beaten Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper 1 cup flaked coconut - ( if mixed with panko use a 1/2 cup) 1 pounds jumbo shrimp, peeled with tails on Heat oil in a large deep skillet, or heavy pot or deep fryer to 350 degrees F. Dredge the shrimp with the cornstarch then the egg mixture and shake off any excess. Press the shrimp into the coconut flakes (or coconut mixed with panko) be sure to coat both sides. Deep-fry the shrimp in batches until the coconut is golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes. Using tongs or a slotted spoon, remove the shrimp to paper towels to drain. Orange Dipping Sauce 1/2 cup orange marmalade 1 to 2 tablespoons dark rum 1 lime, juiced Mix all ingredients in a bowl and use for dipping. |

Thanks. I will print that up and try it. But I may try the sauce that a local restaurant used to do with marmalade, balsamic vinegar and a bit of mustard powder. I go the ingredients from him when I pointed out there was something different in the sauce, maybe mustard.. I tired it once and it was pretty good. |

I have a rather large collection of sauces saved with a few that would be good with this. I just listed the one in the picture at the time it was taken. Joe |

Bloody Mary Shrimp Cocktail Sauce 4 ripe tomatoes -- coarsely chopped 2 celery stalks -- coarsely chopped 1 medium onion -- coarsely chopped 1/2 cup ketchup 2 tablespoons grated fresh or prepared horseradish 1 lemon -- juiced 2 teaspoons hot sauce 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1 shot pepper vodka 1 teaspoon celery seed Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper a jalapeno or chipotle pepper mixed in is a nice addition for the heat lovers.. Combine the tomatoes, celery, and onion in a blender and puree to break the vegetables down. Add the remaining ingredients and puree until smooth. Chill before serving with a raw bar. |

It has nothing to do with the number of shrimp. It has everything to do with the size of the shrimp in each breaded shrimp (i.e., the amount of shrimp compared to the amount of breading and the size of the shrimp compared to the size of the breading). Another way of putting it: Suppose you ordered a hot dog in a bun - a hot dog bun of usual size- and when you got it you found that the hot dog inside the bun was only about as large as you little finger. Get the picture? Or do you need a 100 page dissertation. The product was no good. Anyone with a minimum of intelligence would return the product and get a refund. Alexm |

If you feel ripped off that's entirely your own fault... because you can't read... advertising agents pander to functionally illiterate dumb douchebags like you. |

The only reason to bread any food is as a way to sell stale bread (that otherwise would go in the compost heap) and to make it appear larger... KFC got rich selling small chickens with enough breading to make them appear like you're getting a bargain when in fact it's all an illusion... when you buy KFC you are mostly getting a bucketful of greasy crumbs and a bucket. Breaded shimp is an illusion... and that you are a fool is a fact... next time you buy KFC save that bucket, put it over your head so no one can see your imbecile headed point. |

Did the word "jumbo" confuse you? Or didn't you understand the box was 9 oz.? Do you think a company is going to sell a box of 4-5 breaded shrimp to meet your definition of jumbo and be 9 oz? >Another way of putting it: Suppose you ordered a hot dog in a bun - a >hot dog bun of usual size- and when you got it you found that the hot >dog inside the bun was only about as large as you little finger. Comparing even the worst hotdog joint to the frozen crap you bought is insane. Hopefully you've learned your lesson and won't buy them again. But I have a suspicion you live on frozen fish sticks and frozen pizza. > Get the picture? Or do you need a 100 page dissertation. I'll need the 100 pages please. Start typing now. But most people who buy it realize that, and buy it because they can't cook for themselves, or use it as emergency food. I'll even have a frozen pizza once in awhile. But I don't return it because it doesn't taste like what I can make for myself or what's available at a quality pizza parlor. >Anyone with a minimum of intelligence would return the >product and get a refund.
