I posted on this group a week or so ago about buying a crockpot and asking
advice. I decided to go with the kitchenaid one, even though I had read about the pot cracking. I hoped it wouldn't happen to me. Well, the first time I am using it, making Damsel's Italian beef, it cracks. I did exactly everything per instructions. I called customer service and they were very nice, I'm getting a new one in a week or so. But, save yourself the aggravation and buy another brand. I wish I had. Off to post a scathing comment on amazon. |

If asked, the manufacturer must state that the crock can crack simply because it can. If someone had carelessly said that it couldn't crack the manufacturer would have hell to pay. |

Yes, it was saved. I put it in my 30+ year old Hamilton Beach. It has no bells nor whistles but doesn't die for no reason, like the Rival, or crack like the fancy kitchenaid. When I mentioned to the kitchenaid customer service person that I had read reviews of their product cracking, she said that people never posted about how good a product was, only the bad things. I told her if they would send me one that didn't crack I would write a great review. But just between us, don't waste your money. |

I'm mad at all of them, the Chinese, the cheap-assed mfrs, the politicians, everyone, for their schemes and scams resulting in tons of crap coming in here. Interestingly, it seems that the best way to buy many kinds of things is to seek out working antiques. I haven't been looking for crock pots, but recently scored a really nice, Oster Blender -- heavy motor, chrome-plated steel bee-hive shaped base which rings when you ding it with your fingernail, very thick glass mixing pitcher on top, etc. The real deal, for a lousy $75. I am very pleased with it, and expect it will last me the rest of my life. Made in Milwaukee, a long time ago. Thanks. |

Most big manufacturers do have a QC team on site. Many of Asian outfits are just subsidiaries of the parent company, or at least have very strict contracts. And it cases where they are truly outsourced, then if you don't have a QC person/people on site, you should be QC'ing every shipment/batch that comes in. -sw |

I threw a fancy "programmable" Rival Crock pot in the trash along with the baked beans it cremated. Went out and got myself a Hamilton Beach 5 quart "Stay or Go" and that little darling is just wonderful. Right now it has tonight's supper cooking in it. -- Janet Wilder Bad spelling.
