LOL It looks so good in the photos. One of my coworkers was Vietnamese
and on Tet, she would bring dried candied fruit. Ginger was my favorite.

Crystallized ginger has been $1/lb at one of my stores. I've eaten
probably 4 lbs so far this year.

I have forgotten what a "lb" was but I could spend $4 on Crystallized
ginger in a day (and eat it).

It's dead easy to make. But if one can get it for $1/lb it's better to buy
it if the quality is acceptable.

My son devours this stuff. I can get small bottles - maybe 1/2 cup? for
about a buck at the Asian grocery. He is also a big fan of ginger beer
but he prefers Stewart's.

I came across a recipe recently for homemade ginger beer that I meant to
try but I never got around to. I might have to go find it now.

I was at the NW Foodshow yesterday, and I sampled Ginger Vodka (along
with a few other imbibements). It was quite tasty!

I found some dark chocolate dipped candied ginger that was wonderful. I
took it to work and a lot of folks just didn't "get it?" But they
probably never ate candied ginger by itself before either?

Chocolate and ginger, to me, just don't go together.

When I worked for Fanny Farmer when I was in high school we used to sell
chocolate-covered ginger. Icky stuff but we had one customer who'd come
in every several months and buy a pound. She enjoyed it with her tea.
I don't "get it," either. :-) I prefer milk chocolate to dark most of
the time. Except for maple walnut creams. And Midnight Milky Ways. :-)

Chocolate covered glace ginger was a big, really BIG seller of
Barton's Bonbonaire, even bigger than their chocolate covered candied
orange peel.

Trader Joe's sells ginger spread. Really good stuff. The DH enjoys on
occasion a toasted cashew butter (also from TJs) and ginger spread
sandwich. Really, really good stuff.

That's the feeling of enjoyment one gets after indulging.

Dark-chocolate-coated candied ginger was the favourite candy of both my
dad and his mother, but I've never encountered anyone else who liked it.

Probably because it's not readily available from stupidmarkets, and
when found (typically at chic chocolatiers) it's pricey. I know when
I buy some I don't advertise the fact unless she has nice breasts.

The only place I ever saw it was at Laura Secord, an average-quality
Canadian candy company that typically has stores in shopping malls; I
haven't checked in recent years to see if it's still available.
