Default Side dish suggestions sought!

On Tuesday evening, I am making sauerkraut and hot dogs in the slow
cooker. I am not in the mood for a salad, but yet, I cannot think of
one think to go with it.

Any ideas you can offer is appreciated.

Thanks,
Anthony

potatoes of some sort? perhaps boiled and buttered or made into a potato
salad? Or how about buttered egg noodles with a little caraway seed
tossed on?

Keep it an all finger food meal with tater tots (an excuse to bring out the
ketchup). You can make up a variety of them. Hot out of the oven separately
lightly garlic powder, onion powder some, sprinkle small pinches of
powdered dried basil on others and rosemary (just suggestions) on others,
reheat in the oven for another minute or so to absorb the powders a little.
Put out a box of toothpicks for the neat-freaks attending.

And don't forget to use your finest paper plates!

Why in a slow cooker? Takes about 10 minutes on the stove.
Sides? German potato salad, potato chips, pickles, mustard, ketchup,
orange Jell-O with shredded carrots and topped with a dollop of Miracle
Whip. Pick a couple.

Boiled but not mashed in this camp, Wayne. Peel waxy spuds, cook,
drain. Mash with fork after it's on the plate.

I really like them that way, too. David won't eat them that way, so I
usually make mashed potatoes. He spoils a lot of food ideas for me. :-)

That's what I like to do with the potatoes cooked with a pot roast, and
he's on his own with those.

Now I'm really in the mood for a pork and sauerkraut dinner with potatoes!

What about some gold potatoes, Yukon or the like? I can't imagine having kraut and no
potatoes! lol It's the way my mom and her mom always did it.
Baked beans seems a natural with the hot dogs. A variety of raw veggies would work
too.

It's yer poifect ballpark diet, yoose can live on just this...

Tube steak: ya got yer protien.

Sauerkraut: ya got yer fiber.

Beer: ya got yer vitamins.

Yoose can always have yer peanuts, ice cream, n' crackerjacks.
