No idea, but a nice cold glass of water with a slice of lemon is refreshing, and much cheaper. |

It's an interesting question since sports drinks like Gatorade were developed to replace electroytes (sodium ion, for example) sweated out. If you just want something refreshing the suggestion of lemon juice in ice-water is good. I prefer lime myself. Even Budweiser cold enough to have ice crystals floating it is OK when you are hot. -- James Silverton Potomac, Maryland E-mail, with obvious alterations: not.jim.silverton.at.verizon.not |

I am looking for a sports drink (gatorade, etc.) but the trick is it
needs to be without sodium since I recently found out I have high blood pressure. But I'd like to drink something for when excercising or dancing or working in the yard or whatever I do to sweat a lot. Is there a sodium-free sports drink? TIA! p.s. if this is the wrong place for this, just point me to one that is. |

The sodium plays a major role in replacing salt lost thru sweat. A sports drink without sodium is effectively a soft drink. -- The house of the burning beet-Alan A man in line at the bank kept falling over...when he got to a teller he asked for his balance. |

The drinks replace lost electrolytes, water does not, and this can be critical in some people. We learned that when I took my wife to the ER and yes, she had been drinking plenty of water. YMMV |

You sweat, you lose water and salt and electrolytes. There ya' go. Sports drinks! ![]() I also suffered from a stomach flu that turned me into an aquaduct. I had to keep some salt and electrolytes in me. Gatorade has all the same ingredients as pedialyte at about 1/3 the cost (look for sales). nb |

Lots of it ![]() So do I, usually, but this case was severe. I was becoming light headed and had chills and other symptons of low salts/electrolytes. Sometimes, plain water just isn't enough. nb |

YMMV Same for Don on the Doc. He's to drink 1/2 strenght gatoraide in hot weather. We just budget in the sodium. |

There were salt pill dispensers in the furnace rooms and anywhere else where there was extreme heat. I learned to love those pills on hot summer days, but had to learn to wash them down with just a little bit of water. In fact, I learned to recognize when I needed salt. Sometimes I find myself looking longingly at a salt shaker and crave a lick of salt. When you need salt, it tastes really good. |

If you feel like you need a little something extra, mix about one part orange juice to three parts water. Tara |
