It's not > a very good example/model for young teens who drive badly enough as it is. It's done almost exactly what it was meant to do. You remember all of the major points of the ad except that one particular product name, but if it gets you into BK period it's performed to specifications. As an aside, I've seen that ad a million times by now and I can't remember the name of the item it promotes either. But I remember the ad, and I remember BK. Role modeling isn't the concern of these people. The behavior in the ad is outrageous on purpose. It's part of what gets our attention, even if it's nakedly stupid. It's not an attempt at being cerebral. It's supposed to be mindlessly memorable. It's also a reflection of the age of Jack Ass, in which antics of this nature and worse are perceived by some as brilliantly funny. Fortunately, those who see this crap as commedia dell'arte are fewer and farther between, thank you God, and one hopes they will *all* soon be stifled in upturned port a johns so that society may move on. |

Or, as happened in Newport Beach on PCH, they actually razed the building and rebuilt a newer version of Mickey D's. Really surprised me, as that is some prime property. OTOH, just about all the land in that part of Orange County is owned in whole or in part by the Irvine Co. Even our old office, which building was owned by good ol' Marv, but good ol' Marv didn't own the dirt under it. Terry "Squeaks" Pulliam Burd -- "If the soup had been as hot as the claret, if the claret had been as old as the bird, and if the bird's breasts had been as full as the waitress's, it would have been a very good dinner." -- Duncan Hines To reply, replace "meatloaf" with "cox" |

It happened in the city next to my town. the McDonalds on the franchise strip never seemed to be that busy and I was not surprised to see it being torn down. But I was surprised to see a new one being built there. There is a small McDonalds restaurant in our town. I am surprised that it is still in business. There is rarely more than 2-3 people in the place. It must be the least busy McDonalds in the world. |
