... or do you?
Mimi Jardim's Cooking the Portuguese Way - In South Africa. Found it when we went to a great fishmongers today that DH spotted on his 'travels' and said I'd love. He was right. Ahem, we went there to buy some sole, yeah right... US$184.00 later, we staggered to the car with our booty... Mitigation, not only do they have a wonderful selection of fish and seafood - hey, they even had live oysters in a tank; this is an Amazing Thing in the Johannesburg area <Cathy waves to boli> but I discovered that they stock all sorts of other imported goodies too. Saw some Mae Ploy stuff there <Cathy waves to Steve>, and many other foodie delights e.g. pickled ginger (gari), a wonderful selection of imported soy sauces, olive oils etc. etc. <drool> Anyway, on the way out I spotted the above mentioned cookbook (can't wait to try the recipes) on a stand near the checkout... Also picked up a copy of "Fish in a Flash" which is a 'homemade' cookbook (think photocopies/ring binders) that is produced by the WIZO Johannesburg ladies - some good stuff in there too. Heh. I have no room left in my freezer (and DH has hidden his credit card from me), or I'd go back there again tomorrow ![]() -- Cheers Chatty Cathy Is that chip on your shoulder edible? |

SO and I went to the Spanish Table and I found Cuisines of Portuguese Encounters, by Cherie Hamilton. This book contains recipes from Portugal and its former colonies, such as Brazil, Angola, and Cape Verde. I'd seen this cookbook several years ago at Spanish Table, but they didn't stock it again until just now. (Revised, expanded edition.) Cindy -- C.J. Fuller Delete the obvious to email me |
