What's for breakfast today?

Toasted whole grain/whole wheat waffles x 2 topped with lowfat cottage cheese
speckled with fresh cracked white pepper, a big glass of lemon'd water, a
square of 85% cocoa dark chocolate and a multivitamin.

Dang, Andy! It's only 6:30 (my time). I cooked extra sausage links
yesterday. So I'll have a variation on the same, except with a toasted
English muffin. That will be hours from now!

Jill,

Since I usually skip dinner, in favor of a late lunch, I wake up hungry and
eat right away. You on the other hand, are a slow poke at breakfast. You'd
drive me crazy!

I can't eat the moment I get up. But breakfast is the most important meal
of the day! (laughing) I had it around 11AM yesterday. It comes in second
to that lunch/supper thing. Dinner is usually "light" around here unless
I'm cooking to have a lot of leftovers to freeze.

Bowl of Special K Strawberry, topped with 1/2 sliced banana and 1% milk.
Mug of French Roast Coffee.
Crow for programming typo I made yesterday (I eat breakfast at my desk
during the week).

Jon,

I do miss a good cup of coffee. I almost went for a starbucks earlier but
pulled in the reins in the nick o' time.

Used to work serving up espresso drinks. I do know how to overdo a good
thing!

50 grams worth of flour turned into tagliatelle with fresh egg from my
neighbor's hen, made this morning and eaten with some simple tomato sauce
left from 2 days ago and a half-ounce of parmigiano reggiano. Twere good,
too.

The truth is I hate to eat in the morning, so I make sure to have something
tasty because my doc says I must eat. If any trad breakfast foods are to be
consumed it is not in the morning. (you could eat the same things I eat, ya
know.)

I'm the same way about breakfast. It's hard for me to eat until I've
been up for a few hours. I tend to eat my first meal at mid-to-late
morning--a late breakfast or an early lunch. I often eat leftovers
for breakfast. This morning was half a leftover grilled cheese
sandwich (American cheese, bacon, tomato, red onion, and pickles, on
rye).

Pat, I have to thank you for sending me that dried corn. It wasn't exactly
what Dad was waxing eloquent about, but then he didn't really know what he
was waxing eloquent about. He stopped talking about parched field corn and
moved on to something else. Thank you!

Giusi,

We'd rather be in Italy for lunch then! We won't hang around for too long.

How long can an extremely long lunch last anyway?

I see Mickey D's has a new biscuit 'n chicken item ready at breakfast
time. It sounds good for breakfast - not Mickey D's version, but a
home-made version, that is.

He wasn't talking corn nuts, was he, Jill? I would think those would
be available everywhere. I always think of corn nuts as parched field
corn.

LOL. For most of my working life I ate two breakfasts. Couldn't take
much food before having to commute to work by various means. Ate very
little (but of course had the coffee) at home, then had the rest once I
got to my office (can't eat in a lab ). If I'm hungry in the morning
something's very wrong, or else I'm travelling hehehe.

Breakfast today was the usual: toast, coffee and a bit of fruit. I don't
actually like fruit in the morning but my mother started to insist after
I was hospitalised in 2007. Lack of fruit for breakfast isn't actually a
medical condition LOL, but she thinks it is.

Granola from La Brea Bakery, which has just turned up in the Boston
area. Good, but expensive, and I think it would be very easy to make a
similar granola. Plus my usual cafe au lait and vities.... Oh, and a
spoonful of yummy organic berry spread.

No, not corn nuts. Parched field corn was something he remembered eating at
his aunt's house back in the 1930's. It was a baked side dish, not a snack

You're welcome. It seemed worth a try, I hope your mom is doing

Same as (almost) every morning. Cuppa joe with cream, no sugar, and
either two or three slices of toast. No newspaper -- I get my lies
about the economy from CNBC.

Every few weeks, tho, I have one of the breakfasts of my youth. That
would be bacon and eggs, etc., or mom's creamed codfish on toast we had
on Sundays.

It causes me great angst to know that 5,000 to 10,000 children will die
today and every day either from starvation or from the diseases
associated with malnutrition.
