She came home to a clean house, clean clothes, fresh linen, a chilled bottle of bubbly, chicken breasts baked in a mushroom sauce, and plenty of crispy steamed fresh veges. Same same happens most days. Lately she's had long days (people have left so the workload increases) but usually, it's just a normal work day. When do *I* get a day off??!! I just don't want to be treated like a queen, though :-) I don't give a rats arse about this over commercialised fathers and mothers day...... if you can't show the people closest to you that you care 365 days a year, and only want to show it on one day... you deserve to be an orphan. Same goes for Valentines Day, Easter, Christmas and all the other crap. -- Peter Lucas Brisbane Australia You will travel through the valley of rejection; you will reside in the land of morning mists...and you will find your home, though it will not be where you left it. |

Thank you, Wayne. I'm spending the day with DH and our three wonderful daughters. My mom lives four hours north of here, so I'll talk with her on the phone later today (she's coming down tomorrow to stay a few days, though, so I'll see her then). Sadly, although DH's mom (in CA) is still living, she doesn't know it's Mother's Day or even who any of us are anymore. ![]() her at the home where she lives. Happy Mom's Day to all the moms in here! You are so very kind and thoughtful Wayne, thank you. I know your fond memories of your mother will make this a happy day for you also, and she will be with you in spirit. You are blessed that you were able to care for her in her last years. koko --- http://www.kokoscorner.typepad.com updated 5/11 "There is no love more sincere than the love of food" George Bernard Shaw |

It is, but it's been such a gradual thing that's happened over the years (she was diagnosed with Alzheimers in '02 at the age of 60) that DH came to terms with it awhile ago. It's still hard for him, but he's arrived at a sort of acceptance stage at this point, y'know? >> Happy Mom's Day to all the moms in here! >> >> OB food: currently simmering shrimp shells to make shrimp stock for >> shrimp and asparagus risotto, which will be part of dinner tonight > > Now, THAT sounds delicious!
