Good Job - not everyone would be so alert. I suspect it is better to be a
little cautious and SAFE.

It is without question a tough neighborhood

And TPB is just about the most "rock - solid" rfc denizen there could be...I
have *no* reason to doubt her veracity this story or *anything* she's
ever posted.

And she gets bonus points from me for dressing nicely, too...

I agree. LA is a nightmare in many ways. Just wayyyy too many people.
Law of averages being what it is, it has to be dangerous.

When folks see you they run the other way...they don't want to chance being

She's one of a few here that I'd trust implicitly - or even care to
meet...she is "Grade A" in all respects IMSHO.

[U R on that select list, too, darling... ;-) ]

And no

Ya know, I love it when women dress up. If I can do so, I'll always
compliment them if I can...it's one of those things that makes life more
tolerable, more civilised, more pleasant.

[I always make a point to compliment parents if their kids are nicely
behaved and show good manners, that's become somewhat of a rarity too these
daze...]

There is a nail salon/spa down the street owned by an Indian family, they
are so handsome and always so nicely turned out (the boys are str8,
unfortunately ;-} ) One of the daughters that works there is a stunner, so
lovely and always so well put together. Last night they stopped by the bar
after work and she was dressed to kill - WHOA! Very sexy, but not tarty. I
said, "Wow, you look great tonight - and you *always* look great...". She
replies, "Honey, I've been on my feet for eight hours working all day, I
want to feel good and look good after a day's work...". That's what I call
A GOOD ATTITUDE...

Maybe I've been watching too many Audrey Hepburn movies as of late, but I
really dig it when a gal dresses up, it's something that's a - miss in
modern society. Too many young chix I see dress like tarts or are simply
"overdone", style - wise...KEEP IT SIMPLE, GIRLS...!!!

At least the _Sex and the City_ craze has more younger women making an
attempt instead of just looking like slobs...and that horrible hip - hugger
pantz "look" with the ass hanging out and navel rings seems to waning, THANK
G-D.

Huh, I never thought of that! And you could be right, as the LA Mall
is square in the middle of a bunch of federal and state offices. I
also caught a glimpse of what looked like a crowd of protesters down
the street, as I was trying to find the entrance of the parking
garage. Rats. And I was all atwitter with the idea of being Danger
Woman!

Thank you. Most of my paycheck gets left at Bloomies, Nordies and
Macy's. Thank God the DH is a successful lawyer or we'd starve to
death under an overpass somewhere in east LA <g>

I'll be in the Hon. Audrey Collins' US District courtroom tomorrow
morning for a 10 a.m. hearing in _World Wide Rush v. City of LA_ in a
red suit and red heels, as we pray the judge sees things our way and
grants our preliminary injunction. Jimmy Choo will be with me along
with my big ole beefy boss, El Jefe :-) If she sees things our way,
my part of the deal will let me at least semi-retire. If not, it'll be
18 months +/- until the Court of Appeals does the same thing.

I'm guessing you're not really too worried about stalkers.

I had not noticed that you are a superficial, attention-seeking twit before.

Since you are so tight with Queen Greg and Stinky Mike, I should have
figured.

No, the fact is it's not. The underground lot she parked in has the
federal building on one side, the federal courthouse on the other
side, city hall east on the third side, City Hall across the street
diagonally. Police headquarters is across on another diagonal. One
floor up from the parking is a shopping and food mall, next level up
is the street. On a workday afternoon there is a good amount of
pedestrian traffic and nearly always a visible number of police. At
the doors of all the government buildings are security officers or
other peace officers.

True, at night when all the workers go home, the homeless take over.
But during the workday, walking from the parking to a meeting in one
of the city buildings, one could hardly find a safer place. -aem

LOL!!

If 'Squeaks' is as good a lawyer as she makes out to be, it'd be a very
good idea to keep her onside.......... one never knows when one might
need that sort of a friend ;-)

BTW........ Jimmy Cho's full title is

Dato' Jimmy Choo OBE

2000: Bestowed a state award carrying the title of Dato' by the Sultan
of Pahang state in Malaysia for his achievements.

2002: Conferred an OBE by Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of his
services to the shoe and fashion industry in the UK.

2004: Awarded the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri by the Yang di-Pertua
Negeri (Governor) of his home state of Penang, which also carries the
title Dato'.

Not bad for a cobbler ;-P

That was in response to your "I hope you gag to death" comment.

It reminded me of a time, a long time ago, when I had to change my baby
sons shitty nappy.

I almost gagged and dry heaved to death!!

It's an English word. From the Online Etymology Dictionary
(http://etymonline.com):
ahoy 1751, from a + hoy, a nautical call used in hauling.

hello 1883, alt. of hallo (1840), itself an alt. of holla, hollo, a
shout to attract attention, first recorded 1588. Perhaps from holla!
"stop, cease." Popularity as a greeting coincides with use of the
telephone, where it won out over Alexander Graham Bell's suggestion,
ahoy. Central telephone exchange operators were known as hello-girls
(1889).

"Hello, formerly an Americanism, is now nearly as common as
hullo in Britain (Say who you are; do not just say 'hello' is the
warning given in our telephone directories) and the Englishman cannot
be expected to give up the right to say hello if he likes it better
than his native hullo. [H.W. Fowler, "A Dictionary of Modern English
Usage," 1926]

One of our daughters, then single and not much familiar with babies
and also a tad delicate in the sensibilities, as it were, babysat her
infant niece. Thank God her 8 year old niece was also on the premises,
as when the daughter tried to change a messy diaper, she threw up on
the baby! The 8 year old just told her aunt to go away, that she'd
take care of it. The daughter is never, ever going to live that down!

OB: Had a carne asada quesadilla and Cadillac margarita at El Cortez
tonight. The place was absolutely deserted as everyone was home
watching basketball!

Eggsackly - OTOH, the DH is a *bankruptcy* lawyer, so he's only
helpful to a person every 7 years <g>

(And he doesn't do personal bankruptcies since the passage of the
Credit Card Relief Act of 2005.)

Looking at the current list of people who play lawyers on TV, I think
*anyone* could do it :-)

I know that now. I didn't then. And I actually had a couple of
security-types offer to walk me to my car, which I declined. What am I
going to do? Sit in my boss' car in the underground parking garage
until he finishes the meeting? Drive around until he finished the
meeting? Drive over to LA Superior and hang out on the 9th floor?
Drive over to the Pacific Dining Car --- wait a sec, that would
actually have been way, way cooler than hanging out at Quiznos for
over an hour, and I could have had martinis! Note to self...

Yeah, well, it sureashell didn't seem like it at the time. And please
remember that I'd never been there before. I came out of the
underground parking garage unsure which way Main St. was, headed off
in the wrong direction...

....and I am really, really sorry I related this whole thing. We relate
stories in this ng all the damned time. I mistakenly believed that my
15+/- years posting here might have given me some "street cred." My

Ahoj. Sam' t'ing.
CDG --> IAD --> MSP
I think we arrive in DC around 2:30 or something. We changed our return
from there to MSP to 5:30, getting in at 7:00ish.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll mention it to the AF pilot. "-)

No, 'your naive.' I don't know you from Adam, but I know downtown LA is
very unpleasant at times. It almost seems neglected, forgotten. All those
official things are there, the sports club is there, and the shops have
arisen presumably to serve those who work there. I know grown men who
prefer not to stay in that area even if it is more convenient.

What you forgot is that some members of this group like people to be what
they consider ordinary. Anything that is differerent seems to bring down
the spite from some denisens. The fact that ordinary is different things
under different circumstances is not important.

The moment I read that if you didn't have such a long truthful record one
would think you were bragging about your clothes, I knew someone thought you
were bragging about your clothes.
